~ ELSEWHERE IN CYNOPSIS ~

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  Apple has become subject of an SEC investigation after failing to disclose details about Steve Jobs’ illness to investors in a timely manner, reports the WSJ, following up on a story in Bloomberg. The way the information about his illness was disseminated, first as a “relatively simple” treatment for a nutritional issue, then later as a “more complex” ailment, has raised flags about what Apple knew and when they knew it. On a sweeter note, the company handily beat sales and profit estimates for Q1 ending Dec. 27, surpassing $10 billion in sales for the first time ever. Apple sold an astounding 22.7 million iPods and 2.5 million Mac computers during the quarter. The only device that sold less than expected was the iPhone (4.4 million sold during Q1,) raising questions about whether the App Store-accessible iPod Touch is actually stealing some of its thunder. Full edition: CYN DIGITAL.

CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Ozie Boo! Learn to Live Together, the popular French CGI-animated short-form preschool series, is to be adapted for the big screen, per Variety.  Series creators Cyber Group Animation will produce the feature film, as well as handle international sales.   Set for a release a holiday 2010 in France, the movie will revolve around the adventure of a group of baby penguin pals that are separated when their ice-flow cracks in half.  The original Ozie Boo! series has been sold to 150 territories.  The series has also spawned a new Christmas special, currently in production, and a new series Ozie Boo! Save the Planet, now in development.   Full edition: CYN KIDS.
