Following 421 television stations making the analog-to-digital switch this week, Nielsen reports more than 5 million U.S. households, or 4.4%, are still completely unready for the digital transition. This number has improved by more than 800,000 homes since earlier this month. Reports from these more than 400 stations that made the switch as of midnight Tuesday indicate things went fairly well overall as viewers had questions about how to hook up a converter box versus not knowing the digital transition had taken place. The FCC confirmed yesterday it had received 6,750 calls during the first few hours of the DTV transition, between midnight Tuesday and 11a. This equated only to a +5% increase over the average to its 1-888-CALLFCC call center.
