After receiving criticism from within the television industry, The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and CBS announced yesterday it will not time-shift any of the award presentations. Previously on July 30, both entities said they would time-shift eight award categories in order to add more entertainment segments for the three-hour show. Now all 28 awards will be included during the live telecast of the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards airing on CBS September 20 at 8p. John Shaffner, Chairman/CEO of the Television Academy said this about the change, “This decision was made to mend relationships within the television community and to allow executive producer Don Mischer to focus his full attention on producing the creative elements in the telecast. Our goal is to celebrate the year in television, honor excellence and this year’s great achievements with the support of our industry colleagues and our telecast partner, CBS.”
