~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

UK’s original version of The Office from BBC Worldwide is back in the States, this time licensed to air on Adult Swim. Both seasons plus a Christmas special were acquired by Adult Swim about the daily work life of employees at the fictitious Wernham Hogg Paper Company located in Slough outside of London. The UK edition of The Office series inspired the American version which currently airs on NBC and is in syndication on Adult Swim’s sister cable network TBS.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Reveille is working on a new health-related project involving a partnership with book publisher Rodale based on the book series Eat This, Not That!, cites THR. The deal covers soliciting a series proposal to the networks that adapts the popular books created by Men’s Health editor-in-chief David Zinczenko and nutrition editor Matt Goulding.

Kaleidoscope Entertainment Inc. began production on a new series in association with VIVA called Healthy Gourmet. The series, with 13 half-hour episodes, is being shot in and around Ontario until this June. In each episode, food nutritionist Julie Daniluk duels against Chef Ezra Title as she wants healthy food choices and he wants things to taste good. The duo will spar in various locations such as a dude ranch, a tall ship, to a motorcycle club and more.

Casting Call: Fine Living Network is seeking social, relationship, communications or life coach experts to appear in a new series focused on social etiquette. Authors, journalists and self-help experts are encouraged to apply, especially those who enjoy helping men and women change their behavior in a fun, light-hearted manner. On-camera experience is considered a plus for this position. Send an email with LIFE EXPERT in the subject line along with your name, a demo reel, photo, area of expertise and contact info to:

~ ELSEWHERE IN CYNOPSIS ~

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  Time Warner is moving close to reversing its disastrous acquisition of AOL by spinning off the company into a separate unit, according to a regulatory filing made by company. (Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes promised an announcement on the issue “very soon” on an earnings call yesterday.) Losses at AOL once again dragged revenue and earnings down at Time Warner, as revenue at AOL dropped by 23% due to deteriorating ad revenue and a further loss of dial-up subscribers. Time Warner’s cable, TV networks and movie businesses fared better, however, despite the ad slowdown. Triple-play customers (who subscribe for video, phone and internet services) grew by 146,000 during Q1 and now account for 22% of TWC’s total customers. Meanwhile discussions regarding the company’s “TV Everywhere” concept, which would allow paying subscribers to access cable TV content on multiple screens, are moving forward with distributors. The service could reach the trial stage by the second half of this year.  Full edition: CYN DIGITAL.

CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  The Muppets of Plaza Sesamo and Mexican celebrities are addressing the new flu emergency in a series of pubic service announcements (PSA) aimed at kids.  Sesame Workshop and Mexico’s Grupo Televisa have produced four PSAs featuring the Plaza Sesamo Muppet’s Pancho and Lola as well as celebrities Lucero, Jorge Poza and Adrian Uribe, which empower kids with things they can do during this period.  The PSAs, which have already begun airing on Televisa, encourage kids to tell a parent if you feel sick, and if you are sick don’t go to school or outside, cover your mouth with a tissue or arm if you sneeze or cough and throw away that tissue in a covered trash can, and of course, wash your hands with soap and water several times a day for at least 20 second.  Plaza Sesamo’s Education and Research team worked with Mexico’s Ministry of Health to develop the PSA scripts.  The PSAs are being offered to several government organizations to extend the message in Mexico including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Government Workers’ Social Security and Services Institute (el ISSSTE) and Mexico City’s public transit system.  Full edition: CYN KIDS
