Season three of History’s Ice Road Truckers skids on the icy Arctic roads of North Alaska starting May 31 at 9p. Along with veteran, hard-core drivers Hugh “Polar Bear” Rowland and Alex Debogorski, the crew is joined this season by rookie driver, Tim Freeman and the first full-time female driver seen on the series, Lisa Kelly. Original Productions, a FremantleMedia Company produces the series.

ABC approved a pick up for the science fiction drama, Flash Forward. The 13-episode order is from ABC Studios and is based on Robert J. Sawyer’s novel about a global catastrophe where everyone in the world blacks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds and all share the same strange futuristic vision. Joseph Fiennes and Courtney B. Vance are set to star. David Goyer is executive producer/writer and director and Brannon Braga also executive produces and is co-writer on the pilot.

In other pilot pick up news, CBS has okayed the yet-to-be-titled spinoff of NCIS and the legal drama starring Julianna Margulies called The Good Wife for its fall schedule. CBS is also considering the dramas U.S. Attorney and Miami Trauma.

ABC identified actress/comedian Aisha Tyler to host a new talk show pilot, The Aisha Tyler Show aimed at younger audiences for syndication or cable. The show will utilize normal talk show elements along with comedic political commentary, produced comedy segments and social networking opportunities for fans to connect with Tyler via Facebook, Twitter and other platforms. Production on the pilot will begin soon from ABC Media Productions (formerly Buena Vista TV). Tyler was most recently seen in the feature film Bedtime Stories and on her own Comedy Central special Aisha Tyler Is Lit: Live at the Fillmore.

Hollywood’s legendary Walk of Fame, where more than 2,300 stars in film, television, music, live theatre and radio are honored, will be the subject of future television shows marking its 50th anniversary. Mark Burnett Productions was selected to create and produce these television projects, working the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Vanguard Entertainment Media Group and Global Icons, the Chamber’s licensing agency are also involved to develop the television and digital content. Proceeds from the television shows, online content, brand sponsors and other rights will help pay for the Chamber’s Walk of Fame renovation plans and its ongoing programs that support the Hollywood community.

Comedy Central and its digital network Atom.com are co-funding the new online cop series The Fuzz produced by Waverly Films. Five webisodes have been approved featuring humans and puppets teaming to fight crime in a corrupt city. The series will debut on Atom.com later this year and further development will continue on the series to create a pilot for television.

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  Analysts spent the weekend sifting through remarks made by Google CEO Eric Schmidt at a press briefing given late Thursday before the company’s annual shareholder meeting. The executive sought to address reports of antitrust concerns regarding Schmidt’s role on the board of Apple. Mr. Schmidt said he has no intention of stepping down because he doesn’t think the companies compete. He also welcomed scrutiny over Google’s effort to digitize millions of copyright-expired books, admitting that the company has learned to tread carefully when tackling such efforts. The most interesting news from a product standpoint came when he noted that Google was looking into ways to integrate micro-blogging (read: Twitter) functionality into search. The idea seems to be to mine micro-messaging data to glean larger trends, according to comments made by search products chief Marissa Mayer.   Full edition: CYN DIGITAL
