~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Starz Inside, a series of original specials, returns in 2nd quarter with a new slate of programs, all with host Richard Roeper.  The new slate includes Starz Inside: The Face Is Familiar debuting Tues, June 9 and 10p, Starz Inside: Zombiemania, scheduled to premiere July 21st at 10p, Starz Inside: Villainz! joins the schedule on August 25th at 10p, Starz Inside: Comics on Screen returns September 22 at 10p, and Starz Inside: Sex and the Cinema returns on October 22 at 10p.

IFC has ordered up a second season of its original documentary series The IFC Media Project.  The series takes a behind-the-scenes look at the stories of news is made, the business of journalism and a first hand view on a variety of news stories that were reported inaccurately for a number of news sources.  IFC has ordered five new episodes, scheduled to premiere on Sunday, May 3 at 11p, with host Gideon Yago.  The series is produced by HonestEngineTV’s Meghan O’Hara and Nick McKinney.

As of March 15 the Nielsen Company reports only 3.6% of all TV homes are still unready for the June transition to all-digital broadcasting. That means there are currently approximately 4.1 million homes unprepared, an improvement of nearly 350,000 in the last two weeks.

Showcase Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to the family mini-series twentysixmiles starring John Schneider and Jessica Tuck.  The story follows Schneider’s character who as a successful businessman returns home to reconnect with his ex-wife (Tuck) and their two children.  The series is produced by Rob Miller and Scott LeGrand of Tower 17 Productions.

Fast national ratings of Sci Fi Channel‘s finale of Battlestar Galactica finds the two hour season closer drew in 2.4 million viewers, 1.5 million in the coveted A18-49 demo, making it the most watch episode of the series in over three years. These numbers mark a 56% increase over last season’s finale in total viewers, and up 37% in the demo.

President Obama‘s appearance on Jay Leno gave The Tonight Show a significant boost – the show had its largest audience since January 2005 when Leno paid tribute to the late Johnny Carson.  This was the first late night TV show appearance by a sitting POTUS.  The show earned an 11.2/26 household rating in metered markets for Leno. The numbers also filtered thru to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon which drew a 3.9/13, the highest rating since Fallon took the hosting reins.

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  Productivity must have taken hit at the workplace last week. CBS fired all on cylinders with its multiplatform coverage of March Madness, tipping off tourney simulcasts on Thursday with record traffic. Broader distribution, heavy promotion and the addition of Silverlight 2-powered (and Akamai-served) HD-quality streaming this year helped drive 2.7 million unique visitors to the NCAA March Madness on Demand video player, a 56% spike from last year. Users consumed 2.8 million hours of live video and audio streaming, up 65% from 2008. Hundreds of web and mobile properties signed on to participate in the NCAA March Madness on Demand Developer Platform, providing access to games across Facebook, YouTube, CBS Interactive and Audience Network sites, CBS Television and CBS Radio stations and affiliates and major sports and media websites including ESPN.com, Yahoo! Sports and SI.com. Rather than cannibalizing on air, the increased availability of (quality) tourney hoops online actually coincided with higher linear ratings this year-up 9% on Thursday.  Full edition: CYN DIGITAL.

CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  Mending their relationship, director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) and Summit Entertainment are coming together again for the new fantasy/drama movie If I Stay, according to Variety.  The movie is based on author Gayle Forman’s young adult novel If I Stay, which will be published this spring by Dutton children’s Books.  Additionally, per THR, Hardwicke is in discussions with Columbia Pictures to develop and direct a movie adaptation of James Patterson young-adult book series Maximum Ride.   Full edition: CYN KIDS.
