This module will also provide stations with a 24/7 news feed with footage to use in local news broadcasts.
Fox Reality is bringing back American Idol Extra for a second season starting March 15 at 630p, with an encore airing at 1030p. Housekeeping Note: Could end up being a snow day here – at now 430am, there’s a fresh coating of 4″ of snow on the ground with plenty more falling, and since it’s truly our first snow fall of the season, my guess is everything will be shut down. Of course, that’s what 4-wheel drive is for! If you need to reach the Cynopsis office today and you get the answering machine because we couldn’t get there – try email (we’re always able to get email), or if you need Mark Bohn in the Sales Office: 203.583.1224. Of course, we might just be out sledding and making snowmen …
Casting Notes:
- NBC’s pilot Fort Pit, from Sony Pictures Television, has cast Cornell Womack as Paul Hagen. Incidentally, Cornell will be in production with the pilot episode the same week he opens in the Broadway show Talk Radio.
- ABC‘s pilot Pushing Daisies from Warner Bros. TV has signed Kristin Chenoweth in the lead role. The story revolves around a man who can bring dead people back to life.
- Also at ABC, drama pilot Suspect from Sony Pictures TV and 25C Prods, a procedural crime drama focused on the suspects, has signed Charles Dutton to play the lead detective.
- CBS‘s pilot project Atlanta from CBS Paramount Network TV has signed Freddie Prinze Jr. in the lead role of a man who meets a woman at a funeral and then can’t seem to avoid seeing each other.
- HBO‘s drama pilot True Blood from Alan Ball, has added Anna Paquin in the lead, along with Sam Trammell and Ryan Kwanten. BitTorrent is launching a new website today called the BitTorrent Entertainment Network whereby they will make available for download movies and television content at market download prices, i.e., $1.99 per TV episode and $3.99 for 24-hour rentals on movie downloads. The content is coming from a variety of notable sources including MGM, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate and 20th Century Fox. Among the shows available will be 24 and Punk’d, as well as Japanese anime and HD videos. But before you run out and start madly downloading, you should now the BitTorrent content can only playback on the Windows Media Player, largely because its protected by Windows Media technology so it can’t be copied and shared.
60 Minutes creator Don Hewitt is putting together an internet-based news magazine show to try and encourage younger viewers to get interested in news. Sound Off (a working title) will consist of a collection of video op-eds about current issues. Hewitt is launching the site under the banner The Hewitt Group, with his son Steven, former president of Hallmark Entertainment, and 60 minutes producer Harry Moses attached. Hewitt pitched his idea to a group of film student at NYU last week.
