TNT announced it will end its original drama series Saving Grace following a nine-episode run during the summer of 2010. Holly Hunter headlines and executive produces the series about Grace Hanadarko, a detective who approaches her life and work with a no-holds-barred attitude. Saving Grace is produced by Fox Television Studios; show creator Nancy Miller, Gary A. Randall and Artie Mandelberg also serve as executive producers for the series. The show’s current third season concludes tomorrow night at 10p.

US Olympic Committee Chairman Larry Probst said yesterday the USOC is, for now, halting plans to have its own television network after fielding complaints from international Olympic officials. Probst said he wants to put an end to objections raised before developing the TV network project further. Following the USOC’s announcement on July 8 about launching its own TV network, the IOC said the plan could hinder relations with Olympic broadcaster NBC and legal questions could surface. NBC currently holds the US broadcast rights through the 2012 London Olympics and NBC has stated it wants to bid for the 2014 Games in Sochi and the 2016 Summer Olympics. Plans to postpone the USOC TV network could also help Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics which will be voted on October 2 in Copenhagen. “The USOC wants to do everything it can to help support the Chicago bid,” said Probst. “We want to see Chicago win the bid. Anything we can do to help to support them, we’re going to do that.”

Jay Leno tapped friend and NBC colleague, Jerry Seinfeld as his first guest for the opening episode of The Jay Leno Show premiering on NBC September 14. Also appearing on the first installment will be musical guests Jay-Z, Kanye West and Rihanna.

ABC gave a script commitment with penalty attached for a TV series based on the iconic 1985 movie St. Elmo’s Fire, per THR. The project has Joes Schumacher, the film’s co-writer/director involved as executive producer; Topher Grace, Dan Bucatinsky and Jamie Tarses will also executive produce. Bucatinsky will pen the script which will use elements from the original film such as centering the drama around six friends, three guys and three girls, who all recently graduated from Georgetown University and are adjusting to adult life while hanging out at St. Elmo’s Bar & Grill. Sony Pictures TV will produce and Grace’s producing partner, Gordon Kaywin through his Sargent Hall Productions will also executive produce. Grace and Kaywin came up with the idea to produce a new version of St. Elmo’s Fire for TV.

Comedy Central canceled its mocumentary series Reno 911! late last week and news of the network’s decision was released via the show’s co-creator and star Thomas Lennon’s Twitter feed. Reno 911! just finished its sixth season on July 8.

Anne Dudek (House) joined the cast of USA Network’s pilot Covert Affairs, reports THR. The drama centers on CIA trainee, Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) who begins at the agency thinking her bosses are impressed with her linguistic skills but they are more interested in her former boyfriend. Dudek will play Annie Walker’s sister.
