Good morning. It’s Monday, August 17, 2009, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

President Obama will address US students about the importance of education and succeeding in school in his back-to-school message on September 8, 2009, which for many kids will be the first day back at school following summer break.  The speech will be carried live on www.whitehouse.gov at 1p on September 8.  Additionally, to support the President’s message classroom activities will be available on the US Department of Education site www.ed.gov .  By the way  President Obama announced he would speak to students during an interview with 11-year-old elementary school kid and reporter Damon Weaver.
