Cynopsis: Kids!

04/06/09

Good morning. It’s Monday, April 6, 2009, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

Toonz Animation India and Canada’s Spectra Animation are partnering to co-produce Paddy’s Pages (52 episodes), a new preschool animated series currently slated to be available in early 2011.  Jointly financed by both companies, the production budget for Paddy’s Pages is about US$7 million.  The series follows the adventures of Paddy, a 6-year-old who loves to read books.  One day Paddy happens upon a book filled with stories that have no endings, Paddy and his animal pals take on the task of finding the missing conclusions and encounter and solve some everyday preschool problems.

NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Illumination Entertainment is moving forward on I Hop, a new live-action family feature film about the Easter Bunny for Universal, per Variety.  Set for a spring 2010 release, the movie revolves around a jobless slacker who runs over the Easter Bunny while driving home late one night.  With Easter Bunny sidelined by a leg broken, the slacker dude must take over his appointed responsibilities.  Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, who together penned the screenplay for Horton Hears A Who and are also working on Illumination’s upcoming animated movie Despicable Me, are writing the script for the movie.  I Hop is Illumination’s first live-action movie.
