PBS debuts the 11th season of Ask This Old House nationally October 4 (check local listings). The new season sports 26 all-new episodes where the expert contractors will travel coast to coast offering practical tips and instruction to help homeowners with projects. Kevin O’Connor hosts the series and is joined by general contractor Tom Silva, landscape contractor Roger Cook and plumbing and hearing expert Richard Trethewey. Ask This Old House is produced by This Old House Productions, Inc., for This Old House Ventures, Inc., and presented on PBS by WGBH Boston.
During the month of November, Bravo Media rolls out two new series and brings back four others. New series Silicon Valley Start-Ups produced by Den of Thieves looks at the intertwining lives of a group of young professionals on the road to becoming Silicon Valley’s next great success stories. The series debuts November 5 at 10p. The second new series uncovers the company behind all the funny cat memes when LOLwork premieres on November 7 at 11p. LOLwork is executive produced by Tom Forman of RelativityREAL and executive producers Jay Blumenfield and Tony Marsh of The Jay & Tony Show. Returning series include The Real Housewives of Atlanta premiering on November 4 at 9p produced by True Entertainment and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is back starting November 5 at 9p produced by Evolution Media. The tenth season of Top Chef: Seattle bows November 7 at 10p produced by Magical Elves and a second season of Million Dollar Decorators debuts November 13 at 10p produced by Goodbye Pictures.
Spike TV approved a new reality series titled Urban Tarzan, giving the series a 10-episode order. The series follows extreme animal handler known as Urban Tarzan who rescues, captures and relocates dangerous and exotic animals. Asylum Entertainment produces the series which is slated to premiere on Spike in the spring of 2013.
New seasons of Parking Wars and Billy the Exterminator are each back for their sixth seasons on A&E Network beginning October 6, airing premiere episodes back-to-back at 9p and 930p and at 10p and 1030p respectively. Parking Wars is produced by Hybrid Films for A&E while Billy the Exterminator is from September Films, a division of DCD Media for A&E.
TV One reports the premiere of its new comedy The Rickey Smiley Show last Tuesday at 9p delivered 468,000 total viewers and a 0.75 rating among A25-54. The series is produced for TV One by Bobbcat Films.

Production has started on TNT’s upcoming new series, Monday Mornings from David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope) and neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, on whose book the series is based. Ving Rhames headlines the medical series along with Alfred Molina, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao and Emily Swallow. TNT ordered 10 episodes for season one which will premiere in early 2013. Monday Mornings is produced by TNT Originals and David E. Kelley Productions.
FX is partnering with Guillermo del Toro and Lost’s Carlton Cuse for a pilot titled The Strain, an adaptation of the book trilogy by del Toro and Chuck Hogan. The book series is about a vampire virus that infects New York and CDC doctor, Ephram “Eph” Goodweather who investigates the case. Del Toro and Hogan will co-write the pilot with Cuse involved to help develop the project and if it is picked up to series will serve as EP and showrunner.
Lou Reda Productions and former Apprentice winner Dr. Randal Pinkett are teaming to develop an unscripted series where Pinkett will use his professional business experience to help struggling companies find ways to succeed in this current economic state.
The second season of Magic City, a STARZ Original Series is adding several new cast members as production commenced earlier this month in Miami. James Caan will play Sy Berman, the head of the Chicago mob and Ben Diamond’s (Danny Huston) boss. Esai Morales also joins as Carlos “El Tiburon” Ruiz, a former rebel who fought with Castro; Sherilyn Fenn was cast as Madame Renee, a beautiful former call-girl who runs a brothel that Ben Diamond financially backs; and Jamie Harris will play Nicky Grillo, a tough druggie mob guy from Tampa. Magic City will return exclusively on Starz in 2013.
Diane Kruger inked a deal to become the lead in FX’s newest drama series pilot, The Bridge. Production begins this fall in El Paso and Los Angeles with Mexican director Gerardo Naranjo taking the lead. Meredith Stiehm and Elwood Reid serve as EPs along with Carolyn Bernstein, Lars Blomgren and Jane Featherstone. The Bridge is a co-production of Shine America and FX Productions.

Wednesday A18-49 Analysis: FOX led Wednesday among the A18-49 viewers with a 3.6/11, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, CBS’ Survivor: Philippines season premiere and FOX’s The X Factor tied for #1 at 3.2/10 apiece and NBC’s The Voice repeat and Univision’s Por Ella Soy Eva tied for #3 each at 1.7/5. FOX was the solo winner at 9p with more of The X Factor at 4.0/11 while CBS came next with an average of Survivor: Philippines and the season finale of Big Brother at an average of 3.0/9. Then at 10p, CBS’ Big Brother finale was on top at 2.5/7 followed by NBC’s rebroadcast of Revolution at 1.2/4.

HBO’s Chief Executive Bill Nelson is departing the company at the end of this year. Richard Plepler will be promoted from Co-President to CEO with Eric Kessler and Michael Lombardo in place as President/COO and President/Programming, respectively. Under the new management organization, Eric and Michael will report to Richard Plepler.
Effective immediately, NBC elevated Edward Swindler to President/Strategy and Operations. Edward will have responsibility for maximizing the revenue and profitability of NBC’s broadcast properties encompassing the network, local stations, domestic distribution, domestic first run syndication and affiliate relations. He will report to Ted Harbert, Chairman, NBC Broadcasting.
Pooja Midha was named SVP/Digital Ad Sales and Operations for ABC where she will report to Geri Wang, President/Sales for ABC. Pooja will head sales and strategy for all ABC digital sales including abc.com, abcnews.com and all new media platform initiatives.
National Geographic Channels (NGC) tapped Noel Siegel as SVP/Production and Development at the network headquarters in Washington, D.C. and additionally promoted Lynn Sadofsky to VP/Production and Development at NGC’s New York office. Noel will oversee developing series and event specials for NGC while reporting to Michael Cascio, EVP/Programming. Lynn reports to Alan Eyres, SVP/Programming and Development. Furthermore, Robert Palumbo was appointed Executive Producer in the New York office, reporting to Lynn Sadofsky.
Solange Attwood was upped to VP/Sales and Development at Si Entertainment, producers of lifestyle and documentary content for more than 20 years. Solange previously was Director/Sales.
Creative and marketing agency, Oxford Communications based in Lambertville, hired Judi London as VP/Director of Client Services, effective immediately. In this newly-minted role, Judi will oversee the agency’s account services, public relations and social media teams. She reports to CEO John Martorana.
Weigel Broadcasting Co. added Kim Chappell to its ABC 57 News team beginning in early October. Kim and current anchor Brian Dorman will co-anchor the weeknight evening news at 5p, 530p, 6p and 11p. They additionally co-anchor the ABC 57 News at 10p on The CW 25.
