Cynopsis: Kids!
11/16/07
Good morning. It’s Friday, November 16, 2007, and this is your first early morning.
Empire Film Group has teamed with Gerry Anderson (not the Thunderbirds Gerry Anderson, rather the brother of Pamela Anderson), to develop a new series of family movies entitled, Living The Dream. Created and penned by Anderson, Living The Dream is a series of family movies about extreme sports in which young athletes compete to achieve their dreams. The first film of this series follows two teenage brothers who strive to compete on the Supercross Circuit, the premier dirt bike racing series in the world. The film explores the personal lives of the brothers as they pursue and live their dream of racing on the Supercross Circuit.
Tim Burton enters into a two-movie deal with Disney to direct two 3D movies, Alice in Wonderland and Frankenweenie, per Variety. First up is Alice in Wonderland, which will be a motion-capture movie, is of course based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Linda Woolverton (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast) is penning the screenplay for Alice. Burton will both direct and produce Frankenweenie, which is based on his own 1984 short film about a dog brought back to life but his owner. Frankenweenie is set to be a 3D stop-motion animated movie.
MORE KIDS STUFF
Animalia (40×26), the 3D CG HD animated series based on Graeme Base’s illustrated book of the same name, premieres in four English-speaking territories from this month through the beginning of 2008: BBC-1 (UK) on November 19; CBC (Canada) on December 3; and PBS Kids GO! Animalia is an international production headquartered in Australia and produced by Animalia Productions in association with US-based PorchLight Entertainment.
Spain-based Icon Animation has changed its name to Imira Entertainment in an effort to reflect its move into new genres. And with that, Imira heads to Singapore for Asia Television Forum 2007 (ATF), November 28-30, with several deals already in place:

Scholastic Media has tapped Aurora World, Inc. as the exclusive plush licensee for Scholastic’s preschool property, Dragon, which is based on books by Dav Pilkey (Captain Underpants). Under the deal Aurora will produce plush in a range of sizes, backpacks, pillows and the mini-pet carriers, all based on the characters from Scholastic Media’s stop-motion animated series Dragon. The new Dragon plush line is slated to be available in specialty gift and retail stores in the US from early 2008. Qubo recently picked up a second season (13×30) of Scholastic Media’s Dragon series, the Saturday morning programming block on NBC, Telemundo, and ION TV. Dragon is co-produced by Cite-Amerique (Canada), scopas medien (Germany), and Image Plus (South Korea). With the goal of growing the property, Scholastic continues to identify licensees in additional categories such as apparel, footwear, games, and interactive.
