VH1 wants more of its boot-camp style dating series Tough Love and a second season is in the works with new episodes slated to premiere during fourth quarter 2009. For this new season, professional matchmaker Steven Ward will be joined by his mother JoAnn, and both will transform eight single women looking for love. High Noon Entertainment and Flower Films produce the series. NBC Universal launched Healthymagination, a company-wide initiative to create new content designed to educate its audience on crucial health and wellness topics. In so doing, NBCU announced it will debut a new daily health information show this June on MSNBC, anchored by Dr. Nancy Snyderman, Chief Medical Editor for NBC News. Dr. Snyderman will offer health and wellness advice and information on medical advancements to in-depth analysis on the government’s health policies. She will also offer her tips and medical knowledge to female consumers via IVillage’s online community. Paul Kangas, 30-year host of the financial news program, Nightly Business Report on PBS, will leave his post at the end of this year, reports THR. The show is actively searching for Kangas’ replacement and should announce a co-host to join Susie Gharib this fall. A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM A&E NETWORKS

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Judging from the revenue margins Amazon is seeking, the Kindle many not be the lifeline newspaper publishers were hoping for after all. Dallas Morning News Publisher and CEO James Moroney went on the record stating that Amazon was demanding 70% of subscription revenues during Wednesday’s U.S. Senate subcommittee meeting on the future of newspapers. (Paidcontent found this link to CSPAN’s coverage of the event.) What’s more, Amazon is demanding that newspapers sign over all electronic distribution rights to their content on devices other than the Kindle. (And the studios thought Apple was monopolistic.) News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch also chided Amazon’s approach during his earnings call, saying that News Corp. would strike no deals with Amazon: “We will not be ceding our content rights to the fine people who created the Kindle.” Full edition: CYN DIGITAL. CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Alloy Entertainment (AE), the creators/producers of Gossip Girl, Privileged, The Clique, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Vampire Diaries will produce and finance its first online web series, based on author Kate Brian’s book series Private. The online series will debut on Alloy Media + Marketing’s recently launched Teen.com “TV” network. Private is set to launch in mid-August with three webisodes each week for seven consecutive weeks. One role in the series will be cast via a five-week online casting call at www.privatehteseries.com, where would be stars can choose a monologue, film and upload their audition and one role will be filled from this process. Fans will be able to vote on the casting process whittling down the field to 15 finalists, and then the producers taking that down to three and judges choosing the one winner. Ahead of the series premiere, Alloy will air the “casting of” Private reality series in late July. The Private books, there are nine so far, are published Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing.
