Good morning. It’s Friday, April 6, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing.
NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
Dream Balloon and Atchity Entertainment have inked a co production deal to develop and produce a full-length feature film, Snowyville, based Michael Attardi’s animated short film, Once Upon A Christmas Village. The move is expected to begin production September 2007 with an anticipated release date of holiday 2008. Directed by Attardi, the 15-minute short was created by a cooperative of animators from Digital Animation and Visual Effects Studio (D.A.V.E.) in Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The producers are working to complete production funding and developing a full-length script, that will be approximately 35% live action and 65% animation. Once Upon A Christmas Village will debut in Cannes in May 2007.
MORE KIDS STUFF
The new CG animated preschool series My Friends Tigger & Pooh will premiere on Playhouse Disney on Saturday, May 12 at 10a. Based on and starring characters from author A.A. Milne’s famous Winnie the Pooh stories from the Hundred Acre Wood, My Friends Tigger & Pooh also introduces new characters, Lumpy, a young neighbor named Darby and her puppy Buster. Designed as a learning-focused series, viewers are challenged to exercise their thinking, reasoning and social skills, each episode features Tigger, Pooh and Darby on an adventure where they work as sleuths, looking to the audience for help throughout, to solve the mystery at hand. Produced by Disney Television Animation, each episode of My Friends Tigger & Pooh is comprised of 2×11′ stories. Following its US debut, the series will begin rolling out on Disney Channels and Playhouse Disney channels around the world.
Mr. Marvin Hamlisch, film, TV and Broadway composer/artist, has signed on as music consultant and composer for the second season of the preschool series Sheira & Loli’s Dittydoodle Works. Season two (14×30′) will bow on public television from May 12, 2007 (check local listings), and brings the series to a total of 40 episodes. The new episodes will include the introduction of a new character, Squeeky Squeeky Kronk, as well as a return visit by disco royalty, Chaka Kahn, who will reprise her role as Mother Nature. Featuring a mix of live-action, puppetry and animated content, Dittydoodle Works is produced by Rogar Studios. The series is presented by WLIW New York Public Television, which is distributed by American Public Television.
A third season of Sisimpur, the Bangladeshi version of Sesame Street, will go into production next week in the Dhaka-based Film Development Corporation Studio. The new 52×30 season will bring new Muppet characters to its little viewers, including a rooster, chicken, and humans who will join Halum, a Bengal tiger, Tuktuki, Ikri Mikri and Shiku on more adventures. In addition to teaching the show’s literacy, math, health, diversity, family, and community lessons, Sisimpur will also highlight topics such as gender equity and enjoying art forms.
