Good morning. It’s Friday, April 3, 2009, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.
Disney Channel‘s gives its new live-action comedy, Jonas, which of course features the Jonas Brothers, a premiere date of Saturday, May 2 at 8p. The debut episode will be simulcast on Sprint TV and MobiTV and available via DisneyChannel.com, which will also feature exclusive games, video and what they are calling Jonas Videography (a collection of their music videos, interstitials, film and TV clips). Additionally, exclusive full episode previews of Jonas will be available Saturday, April 25 via Disney Channel on Demand through Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, Verizon, RCN, Blueridge, Wide Open West, Comspan, Knology/Prairiewave and Ntelos affiliates. The weekend of May 1-3 will also include debuts of new episodes of Hannah Montana, Sonny With A Chance, The Suite Life on Deck, and Wizards of Waverly Place.
CBBC acquires the new comedy series Zoo Factor (13×20) from Welsh indie producer Calon TV (Hana’s Helpline). Targeted to K8-10, Zoo Factor will debut in fall 2009. Described as a Britain’s Got Talent-style puppet show featuring animal contestants that share their personal stories and then show off their unusual talent to Clive – a lazy and vain lion, Barry a gaff-prone monkey, and Carmel an indecisive chameleon. Contestants voted off are eaten by Clive. Calon holds the distribution rights for the show.
Cartoon Network premiers the new season of Thumb Wrestling Federation: TWF tomorrow, Saturday, April 4 during the Crush Zone programming block. Saturday also marks the launch of the new online game Smash Attack and a TWF soundboard, Talkin’ Trash with TWF at www.thumbwrestlingfederation.com. Later this month the series will bow on iTunes and Xbox Live.
Chapman Entertainment‘s Roary the Racing Car speeds to Canada where the CGI stop-frame animated preschool series will launch on Treehouse TV from April 2009, weekdays at 2:45p and Sundays at 12:45p. The network acquires the first 52 episodes of the series, narrated by US Indy car racing hero Sam Hornish Jr.
Scholastic acquires the worldwide rights to My Brother Charlie, a picture book written by actress Holly Robinson Peete and her daughter Ryan Elizabeth Peete (11). Illustrated by Shane W. Evans, My Brother Charlie is schedule for publication in spring 2010, to coincide with Autism Awareness Month (April). Though this book is a fictional story, it is based on the Peete family’s experience of living with an autistic child, Ryan’s twin brother RJ. The story is told from the point-of-view of the sister.
Correction: The TV movie Tiger’s Apprentice is based on a book by Laurence Yep, which is being directed/executive produced by Wayne Wang, Jane Startz also serves as executive producer.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) inks a three-year deal with the French Federation of Basketball (FFBB) to develop a series of marketing and commercial efforts based on the Looney Tunes Active! program. WBCP’s Looney Tunes Active! is a brand that features the Looney Tunes characters to encourage kids to live an active lifestyle. The first initiatives under the new deal launch on May 17 during the French final Cup at Paris Bercy Omnisport palace.
This month Kidtoons, a family-targeted matinee movie program, honors the planet with Kidtoons Celebrates Earth Day that will feature a collection of themed content from PBS Kids programs. Fisher-Price Consumer Products launches a new line of licensed baby and toddler playwear by Mayfair, at Kmart this month. The new line features some artwork from classic Fisher-Price toys, like the Chatter Telephone and Buzzy Bee, on various apparel items. This new line comes on the heels of the launch of Fisher-Price’s infant and toddler footwear line, by Brown Shoe Company, at Kmart earlier this year.
