Bravo offers viewers a glimpse into the lives of rich, privileged teenagers residing in Manhattan with its new docu-series NYC Prep opening June 16 at 11p. NYC Prep chronicles the lives of six wealthy high school students who lead sophisticated yet pressure-filled lifestyles. Under the surface of exclusive parties, luxurious vacations and shopping sprees, there are college applications and high expectations for each of these teens. Following the June 16 premiere, Bravo will schedule NYC Prep in its regular time period starting June 23 at 10p. The series is produced by Stone & Company Entertainment (Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style) and Scott A. Stone and Lenid Rolov serve as executive producers. WGN America (formerly Superstation WGN) re-launches this month with an updated visual package reflecting the American spirit with images of small towns to big cities. Along with this rebranding campaign, WGN America sports a new logo, new graphics as well as a sonic logo. In addition, the network will soon premiere four new original programs:
WGN America recently added these four series to its lineup:
TV One takes the fourth season of its stand-up comedy competition series Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes? to the Luxor Hotel’s stage in Las Vegas. The one-hour series showcases the comedic talent of 24 selected contestants as each strives to keep their act clean to win the show title and their own comedy special on TV One. Joining host Bill Bellamy again is Tommy Mikal Ford as “Croupier of Comedy” and Rodney Perry as the “Man on the Street.” The show features a rotating panel of real people judges who vote on each comic in addition to rotating celebrity judges and mentors. Even viewers at home will get the opportunity to vote for their favorite via text messages or online during the final episode. FarCor Studios produces the series with Ralph Farquhar, Dwayne Corbeitt and Bill Bellamy as executive producers. Spike TV’s new original series Deadliest Warrior scored Tuesday at 10p with the network’s male target audience. Deadliest Warrior became Spike’s highest-rated unscripted series premiere among M18-34 and the highest-rated non-sports debut in nearly three years. Specifically, the series tallied a 2.1 rating and 258,000 M18-24 viewers, a 1.8 rating and 514,000 M18-34 viewers, a 1.4 rating and 794,000 M18-49 viewers and 1.7 million total viewers. CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: French lawmakers unexpectedly struck down a “three strikes” bill that would have enabled ISPs to cut off file sharers’ connections for up to one year upon their third piracy violation. French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who has championed the measure as a way to protect French culture and expression, had rounded up the necessary votes on previous drafts of the bill. But the final version was rejected 21-15, as most of the 577-member legislature decided to take the day off to avoid voting on the hot potato issue. Here in the U.S. the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives began hearings this week on a new initiative to fight copyright piracy abroad. Late this month the Office of the United States Trade Representative is scheduled release its “Special 301” report listing countries whose lack of intellectual property protection have the greatest adverse effects on United States industries.
