What are three attributes that got you where you are now?
Hard work, Patience, and Kindness
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to enter the market?
Be curious. There is so much change going on in this industry and it’s super important to be engaged, to listen to your colleagues and clients and not be afraid to ask questions. Treat everyone with kindness and respect – this is a relationship based business so how you treat people along the way can definitely be an asset.
Pre-workday, what is your morning ritual?
As a working mom, I try to balance my morning between focusing on my kids and getting ready for my work day. I do a quick glance of e-mails and my calendar for the day as soon as I wake up just to remind myself what’s on tap for the day and make sure there is nothing urgent that needs to be addressed. Then, I put the phone down and focus on getting my kids up and fed, make lunches and get them to school. If my husband is around to take them to school, I’ll go for a long walk and listen to a podcast (usually unrelated to business) to clear my mind. Then I’ll grab an iced coffee, head home and get the day going.
What about your job keeps you up at night?
Thinking about the rapidly changing media landscape and how we can stay ahead of the change and continuously evolve to meet the needs of our agency partners and clients. I also spend a lot of time thinking about I can motivate my team through the challenges we are all being faced with and continue to develop the next generation.
In an industry brimming with information, what isn’t talked about enough?
People aren’t talking enough about a balanced marketing approach. The focus has most recently been on performance/lower funnel marketing results as if it’s a singular choice between that and brand marketing. It doesn’t have to be that way. There are accurately measured, cost efficient multi-platform solutions available. We just need to be having a more open dialog about the importance of a well-balanced marketing campaign.
