A visit from Curious George. An inside look at the creative process from a panel of the industry’s top animation innovators. An onscreen character giving out a few awards in real time. These were just a few of the highlights from this morning’s third annual Cynopsis Kids !magination Awards, where we saluted the best in kids cross-platform programming, marketing, prosocial initiatives and more. Congrats again to our 2014 Kids People honorees: DreamWorks Animation’s Margie Cohn, FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment’s Bob Higgins, Fuhu’s Jim Mitchell and Sprout’s Sandy Wax – and to all of our finalists. Digital Marketing Campaign Winner: The Chica Show Season 2 – Sprout
The show stars Chica, a beloved chicken character who loves to dress up and play at her family’s Costume Coop. The show had one season under its belt, and an existing fan base, so Sprout was able to have more fun and out-of-the box tactics with this campaign for the second season.

Cupcake continues to perfect the interactive e-storybook, and Berryfest Princess packs interactive games, motor skill activities, and more. Common core standard discussions are included in several sections adding to educational value. This app is great for emergent literacy, fine motor skills as well as early spelling.

The Safety Show is a modern, empowering approach to kids’ personal safety. Show host, Ruby, guides children through animated stories, original songs, and a craft activity in order to introduce essential safety concepts. Through a cast of lovable garden insects, kids will learn that it’s important to "check first" with a Safe Adult before doing anything unexpected.

This launch was supported by a promotional campaign across paid, earned and social media – as well as PBS channels. The series reached over 2.2 million kids age 2-11 during its launch week, and broke the PBS KIDS record for most video streams for a new show in its first month. Also, the series’ app reached No. 1 in the Education and Kids app categories and was in the overall Top 5 Paid Apps for 10 days on the Apple App Store. This all adds up to success.

Sproutlet Stories has been extremely successful as one of Sprout’s top 10 games and has over 65,000 submissions to date. Submissions are chosen and acted out live daily by the hosts on Sprout’s Sunny Side Up show. More stories are planed for 2014 so it can stay fresh to their game players and tv viewers. These campaigns, coupled with a mommy blogger program, have resulted in engagement across the series’ online and social channels.

A greater measure of their success comes from survey data from partners who received kits. To date:
• 80% of respondents report that resources have improved relations with families they serve.

Winner: Soar with Reading -A JetBlue partnership with Random House Children’s Books
It was a multi-dimensional campaign to leverage JetBlue assets and Random House Children’s Books to encourage reading. Distributed were 300,000 literacy based Magic Tree House Passport booklets and they also donated $500,000 worth of books to children in need.
