Broadcast viewing grew by 7% on October, accounting for 24% of total time spent watching television, its largest monthly share of TV since January, according to Nielsen’s The Gauge. Cable viewing finished the month with 26.3% of total TV usage, up 0.2%. Streaming viewership was flat compared to last month, with eight of the 11 reported streaming services within 0.1 share point or less of September numbers. |

Eroding consumer trust in major social media platforms is likely to negatively impact media spend in the next 12 months, with 53% of media experts surveyed naming it as the environment most vulnerable to brand risk, according to the IAS’ fifth annual Industry Pulse Report. Thirty-one percent of media experts reported being most concerned about ads delivering alongside risky content and misinformation, while 24% were most concerned about ads delivering near deepfakes. Seventy-three percent of experts agree the shift in ad spend from linear to CTV will continue, assisted by emerging opportunities like new playable and shoppable ad formats and picture-in-picture ads to combat ad blockers.

Sean Duffy’s last day as a Fox Business host was Monday. The former Wisconsin congressman was selected to serve as the next secretary of the Department of Transportation. “Sean Duffy provided valuable insights and analysis in co-hosting the FOX Business Network program, ‘The Bottom Line,’” said a statement from FOX News Media. “We wish him the best of luck in his return to Washington.” “The Bottom Line” will continue with Dagen McDowell joined by rotating co-hosts.
Max and HBO struck a multiyear deal extension with The Criterion Collection to continue bringing the catalog of hundreds of titles to the platform, including films newly available on Max in the US. Since 1984, the Criterion Collection has presented films in state-of-the-art restorations, including titles as diverse as “Modern Times” (1936), “Tokyo Story” (1953) and “Night of the Living Dead” (1968). |

The Wonder Project landed a cast-contingent series order for “It’s Not Like That.” The drama follows two parents newly navigating singlehood. Series creators Ian Deitchman and Kristen Rob (“Off Campus”) serve as showrunners, and will exec produce alongside Jon Erwin, Justin Rosenblatt, Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten for The Wonder Project, Alex Goldstone for 42 & Anonymous Content and Kingdom Story Company.
Nat Geo greenlit four unscripted series. “The Real Finding Nemo” (w/t), from Freeborne Media, explores the underwater world; “Surviving Pompeii with Tom Hiddleston” (w/t), from executive producer Kevin R. NBC is the latest network to set midseason premiere dates. In addition to a slew of returning series kicking off the second half of their seasons starting Monday, January 6, come the series debuts of “The Hunting Party” on Monday, February 3 at 10p, and “The Americas” (7p), “Suits LA” (9p), and “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” (10p) on Sunday, February 23. |
Apple TV+ series “The Studio” premieres with its first two episodes on Wednesday, March 26. The comedy stars Seth Rogan (who also serves as writer, director and executive producer) as the newly appointed head of an embattled studio.
Season three of “Yellowjackets” debuts with its first two episodes on Friday, February 14 on Paramount+, two days ahead of its premiere on Showtime. Hilary Swank and Joel McHale guest star this time around.
Reality sports competition “Exatlon Estados Unidos All-Stars” returns to Telemundo on Tuesday, December 10 at 7p. In a twist, champs from previous seasons return to compete with a group of new athletes.
TNT Sports’ 10th installment of golf event series “The Match” tees off with a two-night primetime event on Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22, simulcast on TNT and Max starting at 7:30p. NBC Sports has picked up the rights to The Snow League, a winter sports league founded by snowboarding legend Shaun White. The first competition is set to take place in March, with events streaming live on Peacock and encore presentations on NBC.
YouTube is the priority platform for the sports industry due to its ability to reach, engage and monetize audiences, according to the Digital Trends Report 2025 from UK’s IMG. Ranked after YouTube are Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, with Reddit as the year’s biggest riser, climbing four places to sixth. As for AI, “Meta’s attempt to replicate one-to-one fan interactions at scale through AI celebrity chatbots demonstrated there is minimal appetite to engage with artificially created characters or celebrity interactions,” noted the report. “Fans want personalization, not personalities.”
HBCU GO will run 20 men’s and women’s college basketball games in 2025. Matchups will stream Saturdays at 1p and air in broadcast syndication in major television markets.

The premiere episode of “Dune: Prophecy” delivered 1.2 million viewers across HBO and Max on Sunday, growing 75% to 2.1 million the day after.
The November 6 episode of ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” drew 6.33 million cross-platform viewers in seven days of viewing, up 210% from its Live+SD audience, and up 689%, to a 2.21 rating, among A18-49.
Food Network’s “Holiday Baking Championship” posted a 0.66 P25-54 / 0.88 W25-54 Live+3 rating, up double digits versus the prior six weeks (+61% /+40% respectively), and ranking as the #1 non-news/sports cable program on Monday night among P/W18+ (#2 non-news/sports among P/W25-54). The network’s “Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking” launched on Thursday, posting a 0.57 P25-54 / 0.74 W25-54 Live+3 rating, more than doubling prior six-week benchmarks (+148% and +124% respectively) and is on pace to be Food Network’s highest rated freshman series of the year. |
