Thirty-seven percent of respondents to a Pew Research Center Study who were between the ages of 18 and 29 said they “regularly get news” from influencers. That’s versus 21% of all Americans, regardless of age, and 26% of respondents aged 30-40. As for political leanings, Pew reported “minimal differences” between Republicans and Democrats. News influencers were found to most likely to be on X – 85% said they had X accounts, compared to 50% on Instagram and 44% on YouTube. |

Members of the Writers Guild East have voted to authorize a strike against PBS if they can’t reach a contract agreement before midnight on November 21. “Writers Guild members at PBS would much rather end the week with a fair and equitable contract than with a strike,” said WGAE president Lisa Takeuchi Cullen. “But they are also willing to do what is necessary to reach an agreement that reflects their working conditions and meets their very reasonable demands.”

Apple TV+ has ordered “Cape Fear,” a 10-episode thriller executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, as well as Javier Bardem, who will star.
The SpringHill Company and Fulwell73 have raised $40 million from existing investors as they confirm their merger. “Together, we’ll continue doing what we do best, and now we’ll do it as a global entertainment studio with more to offer our partners,” said a statement from both companies. SpringHill CEO Maverick Carter and Leo Pearlman, Fulwell’s managing partner, will serve as joint CEOs of the yet-to-be-named new company. |
Telemundo is launching a live reality competition, “Miss Universe Latina, El Reality,” set to premiere in 2025. Latinas will compete for a chance to be crowned the first-ever Miss Universe Latina delegate, representing Latina women in the 74th edition of the pageant. “Miss Universe has always held a special place among the Latin community,” said Ronald Day, President of Entertainment and Chief Content Officer at Telemundo. “Latinos in the United Sates are now 65 million strong, and we are excited to partner with the Miss Universe Organization to elevate and celebrate our rich cultural diversity on such an important global stage.” |

Fox’s slate of January premieres kicks off with the return of “Hell’s Kitchen” on Thursday, January 2 at 8p, followed by the return of “Animal Control” for season three at 9p, and new workplace “Going Dutch” at 9:30p. New medical drama “Doc” debuts Tuesday, January 7 at 9p, after “Kitchen Nightmares: Road to Super Bowl LIX.” The next night brings the launch of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” at 8p. “Lone Star” and “Rescue: Hi-Surf” make their winter premieres on Monday, January 20 at 8p and 9p. |
Fox also revealed that the season three premiere of “The Floor” will get the prime post-Super Bowl slot on Sunday, February 9, replacing previously-announced “Rescue Hi-Surf.”

Carrie Underwood’s headed to Hulu. Concert special “Carrie Underwood,” celebrating the Grammy winner’s Las Vegas residency, will air in January.
Asian entertainment destination Rakuten Viki will hold its annual International K-Drama Day on Friday, November 29. In addition to the festivities, fans will have access to premium content streaming on Viki for a limited time, and K-Drama “Love Your Enemy” will make its debut on Saturday, November 23.
Presenters set for the CMA Awards include Olympics champ Simone Biles; actors Jeff Bridges, Freddie Freeman (“Doctor Odyssey”), and Billy Bob Thornton (“Landman”); and World Series MVP Freddie Freeman, among others. The show airs Wednesday, November 20 at 8p on ABC.

Perplexity has introduced an AI commerce experience, Buy with Pro, which lets Perplexity Pro users check out on its website or app for select products. There’s also visual search tool Snap to Shop, and a product discovery experience with unbiased recommendations. Perplexity has also launched a free program designed to give merchants a straightforward process for sharing data. The AI-powered shopping assistant “marks a big leap forward in how we serve our users – empowering seamless native actions right from an answer,” reads the company’s website. “Shopping online just got 10x more easy and fun.”
LiveRamp has expanded the Quick Start Insight on its data collaboration platform to offer Media Intelligence across a network of premium publishers. Netflix is thinking big for its inaugural NFL Christmas Gameday. Beyoncé will serve as halftime performer during the streamer’s second of two games, as the Houston Texans host the Baltimore Ravens at 4:30p. Produced by Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment and Jesse Collins Entertainment, the halftime show will be the first live performance of songs from the Cowboy Carter album.
Fans in Wisconsin will be able to watch Milwaukee Bucks games for the second year in a row through a deal structure led by Weigel Broadcasting Co. Stations from Weigel (WMLW & WYTU, Milwaukee and WMEI, Green Bay), Gray Television (WECX – La Crosse/Eau Claire and WYOW – Wausau), and Morgan Murphy Media (WISC – Madison) will offer games on over-the-air television.
On Saturday, November 23 FloCollege, the newly launched platform from FloSports, will exclusively stream the Opendorse Bowl Series, featuring the highest ranked teams to not make the NCAA tournament representing the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the North Coast Athletic Conference, the Ohio Athletic Conference and the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
