So here’s the deal: The SAG-AFTRA National Board approved the tentative agreement reached with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on November 8. Next, the deal goes to the union’s membership for ratification. “We have forged the biggest deal in industry history which broke pattern, established new revenue streams and passed a historic $1 billion plus dollar deal with the most progressive AI protections ever written. I feel pretty confident in saying this is a paradigm shift of seismic proportions,” said SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher. “Onward and upwards!”

The deal provides protections around the use of AI, two wage increases in the first year of the contract – 7% upon ratification, and another 4% increase effective July 2024. There will be another 3.5% increase effective July 2025, a new compensation stream for performers working in streaming, and more protections for sexual harassment preventions, as well as new casting guidelines, retirement contributions, and relocation allowances. Voting to approve the contract begins on Tuesday and will end in the first week of September.

What say you, AMPTP? “We are pleased that the National Board has recommended the agreement for ratification by the membership,” stated an AMPTP spokesperson. “We are also grateful that the entire industry has enthusiastically returned to work.”

Anthony Anderson (“black-ish”) is set to host the midseason music-centric guessing game show, “We Are Family,” alongside his mother, Doris Bowman – jobs that were initially slated for Jamie Foxx and his daughter Corinne Foxx, before he was hospitalized with a medical condition earlier this year. The new Fox series, which is still executive produced by Jamie Foxx, is set to premiere Wednesday, January 3 and will showcase non-famous relatives of celebrities performing with their hidden famous family member.

The 50th Annual Daytime Emmys ceremony will take place Friday, December 15 at 9p on CBS. Originally scheduled to take place in June, the show was postponed due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes.

Disney Branded Television has acquired first-generation Taiwanese American filmmaker Sean Wang’s “Nǎi Nai and Wài Pó.” The film, slated to stream in 2024 on Disney+, is a multigenerational story that follows a grandma super team that “dances, stretches and farts their sorrows away.” It will be in the first installment of the “People & Places” relaunch, Walt Disney’s documentary short film series from 1953-60.

ABC’s “The Rookie: Feds” was canceled after one season. ABC also opted not to proceed with “The Good Lawyer,” a potential spinoff of “The Good Doctor.”

Nicola Coughlan (“Bridgerton”) stars in a 2024 “Doctor Who” Christmas special. At a press conference, showrunner Russell T. Davies said, “[We’ve got] Nicola Coughlan at Christmas. Not this Christmas, next Christmas. We’re shooting Christmas 2024 now.”

NewsNation is set to host the fourth GOP presidential primary debate. Megyn Kelly will moderate alongside Elizabeth Vargas and Eliana Johnson at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The debate will air live on NewsNation and simulcast in the Eastern and Central time zones on the CW on December 6 at 8p.
