The BBC said it is committed to continuing the iconic series and said current showrunner Russell Davies has penned a Christmas special for 2026. “We can assure fans, the Doctor is not going anywhere, and we will be announcing plans for the next series in due course, which will ensure the TARDIS remains at the heart of the BBC,” said BBC drama director Lindsay Salt.

TECH REPORT |
| According to iSpot’s “Q3 Unified TV & Video Advertising Snapshot,” football accounted for 28% of all household TV ad reach on the Big 4 networks in the third quarter, compared to 25% during the 2024-25 NFL season. Prescription drug spots made up 13% of all national linear TV advertising spend, an increase from 11.6% in the same period last year. Also, the report found that four of the top eight programs were reruns, with QSR the top ad industry during those shows. Univision grew impressions 10% YoY, with entertainment driving nearly 70% of its reach in the period. Streaming spending didn’t mirror linear TV, according to the report, as industries that focused on local customers, like QSR and auto, showed the largest differences, exemplified by Taco Bell (20th on streaming, 92nd on linear).
Artificial intelligence is the second most influential shopping source — next only to online search engines — according to a new study from IAB: “When AI Guides the Shopping Journey: Opportunities for Marketers in the Age of AI-Driven Commerce.” According to the study, conducted in collaboration with Talk Shoppe, 46% of AI shoppers say they use AI “most or every time” they shop, and 80% say they expect to rely on it more in the future. They also say AI makes shopping more fun, intuitive and personal, with more than 70% of shoppers saying it often anticipates their needs before they even ask. But even as AI simplifies choices, less than half (46%) of consumers fully trust the shopping recommendations it provides, and 89% still double-check AI information to feel certain before purchase.
StackAdapt said it has made a major enhancement to its digital out-of-home (DOOH) solution, introducing a map-first user interface and a unified workflow that streamlines campaign planning, activation and reporting. |

| The return of football in September generated a huge increase in television viewership and impacted the competitive landscape among media companies, according to Nielsen’s latest Media Distributor Gauge report. Disney, Fox, NBCUniversal and Paramount each had double-digit viewing increases compared to August levels, based largely on the strength of NFL and college football coverage, with broadcast affiliates accounting for a large portion of the growth. Fox had a viewing increase of 20% in September, finishing with 7.9% of TV watch-time. Disney’s overall viewership climbed 13% over August, with half of its share increase attributable to ESPN, which saw a 65% rise in viewership this month. NBCU added a full share point as a result of a 16% viewing increase, ending the month with 8.6% of TV. Paramount represented 7.7% of TV in September following an 11% viewing increase and 0.6 additional share points. YouTube maintained its position as the top media distributor, capturing 12.9% of total TV watch-time in September. Disney’s 10.7% share made it a close second, narrowing the gap from the 4.0-point difference in July. |
SPORTS REPORT |
Paramount and UFC announced a seven-year, multi-territory expansion of their partnership, securing UFC media rights for the streamer across Latin America and Australia starting in 2026. The agreement expands upon an earlier media rights partnership reached in August that made Paramount+ the exclusive home of all UFC events in the U.S. starting in 2026.
“The partnership with Paramount has already been incredible and it just keeps getting bigger and better,” said UFC President and CEO Dana White. “They are now taking on new territories like Latin America and Australia and this thing is just going to continue to grow. It just shows you how aggressive they are with this business, and I love it. I can’t wait to continue working together and building the next generation of talent all over the world.”
UFC fans across Latin America will have access to all 13 marquee numbered events and 30 “UFC Fight Nights” televised live, at no additional cost to Paramount+ subscribers. The Los Angeles Dodgers, with 76 sponsors, including 20 Japanese brands and six new deals in 2025, lead the pack and are projected to become the first North American sports franchise to exceed $200 million in annual sponsorship revenue.
