NBC will broadcast a special episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on November 17, following its broadcast of “Sunday Night Football.” Slated to appear are Jon Hamm, Lindsay Lohan and Pharrell. Local news will air in between “SNF” and “The Tonight Show.” “Every time we get the opportunity to work with our friends at NBC Sports, it’s something we look forward to,” said “Tonight Show” showrunner Chris Miller. “We can’t wait to bring our show to fans of ‘Sunday Night Football.’ It’s going to be a must-watch night of TV.” The last time the late-night talk show aired after “SNF” was in 2019.

Adult Swim’s #1 series, “Rick and Morty,” has been given a two-year pickup for seasons 11 and 12, which will keep it on the air until at least 2029. Season 8 of the animated series is set to debut in 2025. “From Season One, ‘Rick and Morty’ set a new standard in adult animation and has shown no signs of stopping,” said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, at New York Comic Con.

Nickelodeon has greenlit seasons 4 and 5 of the animated hit, “The Patrick Star Show.” The “SpongeBob SquarePants” spinoff, which premiered in 2021, focuses on Patrick (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke, as in the main series) and the rest of his family as he hosts an imaginary variety show. Each new season will consist of 13 episodes.

Netflix is debating whether to move forward with “Building the Band,” a television project featuring One Direction singer Liam Payne, in the wake of his tragic death last week. The music competition series was greenlit in May and filming has reportedly wrapped on the series, which was produced by UK’s Remarkable Entertainment.

Revelations Entertainment has optioned the rights to the life story of rock and roll pioneer Chuck Berry. Morgan Freeman and Lori McCreary will chronicle Berry’s path to success as part of a drama series that will air in 2026, which will mark 100 years since the singer’s birth. In a statement, the duo said, “Through this collaboration, we aim to celebrate his groundbreaking legacy, sharing not just his music but the remarkable journey behind it. Together, we want to ensure that Chuck’s spirit continues to inspire future generations, reminding the world of the indelible mark he left on us all.”

Onboard the voice cast for Prime Video’s upcoming adult animated anthology series “Secret Level” are Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, Keanu Reeves, Gabriel Luna, Temuera Morrison (“The Book of Boba Fett”) and Ariana Greenblatt (“Barbie”). The 15-parter, set in the world of video games, debuts Tuesday, December 10.

Marvel crime series “Daredevil: Born Again” launches Tuesday, March 4 on Disney+. Charlie Cox stars in the title role, joined by Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin.

Acorn TV’s new detective drama series, “Inspector Ellis,” premieres Monday, November 4. Additional episodes will drop weekly on the platform. The three-part series, consisting of 90-minute episodes, will follow DCI Ellis (Sharon D Clarke), a tenacious cop who travels to various police stations to help solve crimes with the local detectives.

   TECH TALK

Google sent an email to its advertising partners announcing that it will block election ads across all of its platforms after the polls close on November 5. The practice was first implemented during the 2020 election to prevent misinformation about voting and election outcomes. Google Ads, DV360, YouTube and Google’s Ad Exchange and Shopping ads will be included in the pause.

IPG announced Interact, the latest evolution of its marketing engine that unites agencies and clients under an all-in-one data platform. The end-to-end framework integrates data flow across the campaign lifecycle, from brand research and audience insights to creative ideation, production, commerce and CRM programs, and earned media, as well as powering media activation and optimization. “Interact links the powerful expertise resident within our agencies with our technology capabilities to orchestrate the full range of marketing and sales activity in one place,” said Philippe Krakowsky, CEO of Interpublic. “In media and CRM, we’ve been delivering true personalization at scale with our marketing engine, and these enhancements allow us to do so consistently across all forms of marketing activity.”

Funko Fusion, a new video game from Funko, will widen its universe of characters to include favorites from “The Office.” The newly released title from 10:10 Games will introduce Dunder Mifflin-related content later this year as one of its planned updates following its September 13 release across PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X/S. The game currently features characters from “Jurassic World” “Back to the Future” “Five Nights at Freddy’s” and “Chucky” but the company is in talks to expand further outside of the NBCUniversal catalog.

   SPORTS UPDATE

Prime Video scored big with its “Thursday Night Football” game between the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints. Despite a 33-10 trouncing by the Broncos and competition from MLB postseason games and NHL action, 9.81 million viewers tuned in, an improvement from last season’s comparable game. With six games streamed so far, “TNF” on Prime is averaging 13.31 million viewers, a +12% average from last year’s full-season average of 11.86M and +39% over 2022’s season average of 9.58M.

Diamond Sports Group has announced a broad, long-term commercial partnership with FanDuel, the online gaming company. Key points include exclusive right to name Diamond’s 16 regional sports networks and Diamond’s digital offerings; linear and digital media placement and integration opportunities; shared commitment to explore a unified DTC app experience with the ability to syndicate FanDuel TV programming across FanDuel Sports Network; FanDuel to have reseller designation for Diamond’s DTC product; and additional economic and equity elements.

   GOING GLOBAL

OneGate Media has licensed all 24 episodes of German TV series “Vet Jacobs – Agent on Occasion” (ARD) to Giallo, the Italian free-to-air crime channel which is part of the Warner Bros. Discovery network. The series, with three new episodes currently in production and produced by Triple Pictures, is garnering market shares of over 20% and a record of 30% on ARD.

Toonz Media Group has partnered with RFK Global, a Saudi Arabia based 3D animation production studio, to distribute “MAI: The Teen Superhero Detective.” The series features a quirky teenage girl with extraordinary superpowers in the year 3000 who is balancing high school drama and detective adventures.

Curiosity Inc. has teamed up with Off The Fence for content distribution in Asia. The deal will bring a diverse range of programming, from short-form documentary series to premium long-form content, amounting to 148 hours of premium factual content, to China, Hong Kong and Macau. Ludo Dufour, Vice President of Licensing at Curiosity, said in a statement, “This partnership with Off The Fence marks a significant milestone in our expansion strategy across the Chinese-speaking territories. The breadth and quality of our content portfolio perfectly position us to meet the growing demand for world-class factual content in these markets.”

Banijay Entertainment announced that “Return Masters” has been picked up in France, Poland and the Netherlands. The series, which follows second-hand traders competing to make the most profit by bidding on mystery pallets filled with returned goods, has run for four seasons on RTL in Germany. These new territories mark the first international adaptations of the show.

“Undercover: Exposing The Far Right,” a documentary focusing on the far right communities in the UK, was pulled from the London Film Festival over safety concerns. It will make its world premiere on Britain’s Channel 4 on October 21.

GRB Media Ranch has acquired the US rights from Kentucky producers Wrigley Media Group for two seasons of courtroom reality series “Relative Justice.”
