CBS News will now air only live or live-to-tape interviews, a policy instituted after backlash over a “Face the Nation” interview with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. “In response to audience feedback over the past week, we have implemented a new policy for greater transparency in our interviews,” said a CBS News spokesperson. “This extra measure means the television audience will see the full, unedited interview on CBS and we will continue our practice of posting full transcripts and the unedited video online.” Noem had complained that the network “shamefully edited” a segment in which she made allegations (some unproven) about Kilmar Abrego Garcia. CBS parent Paramount recently paid President Trump $16 million over the editing of a “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris.
A federal judge has dismissed Newsmax’s antitrust lawsuit against Fox News, calling the complaint “shotgun pleading.” Newsmax alleged in its 31-page lawsuit that Fox held an illegal monopoly in the right-leaning pay TV news market that violates federal and state antitrust laws. US District Court Judge Aileen Cannon ruled the lawsuit is an “impermissible ‘shotgun pleading'” on the basis that the second through fifth counts “incorporate all preceding allegations.” Cannon gave Newsmax the option to re-file an amended complaint “that is consistent” with her order by next Thursday.
Apple TV+’s “The Studio” and “Severance”; HBO Max’s “The Penguin”; and Disney+’s “Andor” were among the big winners at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremonies, which took place over the weekend. The two presentations will be edited into one show to air Saturday, September 13 at 8p on FXX., the night before CBS’ presentation of the Primetime Emmy Awards.
