When it comes to the viewing habits of Gen Z and Millennials, flexibility, convenience and personalization are key. That’s according to ARF DASH TV Universe study, “TV Deconstructed: Generational Trends in TV Usage.” While the parents of Generation X are more likely to maintain a traditional Pay TV set-up, Millennials indicate a decisive preference for Digital-Only TV access over traditional MVPDs and Over-The-Air, even as they become parents themselves. And Gen Z, moving into early adulthood, show distinct, mobile-native behavior. According to the study, only 59% of Gen Z use TV sets to watch television, compared to 88% of Boomers. Ad-supported subscription streaming is most popular among Millennials and Gen X, the primary “parent” generations.

Concerned that Omnicom Group’s $13.5 billion acquisition of IPG could lead to anticompetitive coordination, with agencies possibly steering advertisers away from certain media outlets based on their political content, the Federal Trade Commission issued a proposed consent order that included provisions that would “eliminate Omnicom’s ability to deny advertising dollars to media publishers based on their political or ideological viewpoint.” Responded John Wren, Chairman & CEO of Omnicom, “We are delighted that our transaction with Interpublic has cleared this significant regulatory hurdle. This is an important step toward the completion of the proposed acquisition.”

Starz handed an early season two renewal to drama “Outlander: Blood of my Blood,” ahead of the prequel series’ debut on Friday, August 8. “The world of ‘Outlander’ has captivated audiences with its sweeping storytelling and unforgettable characters. With ‘Blood of my Blood,’ we’ve expanded the universe in a way that honors the original, while charting bold new territory,” said Kathryn Busby, President of Programming, STARZ.

Paramount+ has renewed “MobLand” for season two. The drama from Guy Ritchie debuted March 30, and has drawn 26 million viewers to date. “We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to #1 in the United Kingdom,” said Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment.
