Paramount Global and Charter Communications inked a multi-year distribution agreement for Paramount’s linear cable networks, and CBS owned-and-operated broadcast stations and direct-to-consumer streaming services. As part of the deal, the ad-supported versions of Paramount+ Essential and BET+ Essential, will be included at no additional cost to Charter’s Spectrum TV customers. Charter also will make Paramount’s direct-to-consumer products available for purchase to its Internet-only customers.

In an effort to engage Gen Z consumers, Walmart launched virtual experience Walmart Realm. “Walmartrealm.com pushes boundaries as a first-of-its-kind digital shopping experience with influencer-led virtual shops in immersive worlds,” wrote CMO William White in a blog post. “It’s fantastical, it’s inspirational and simply put: it’s a lot of fun. At Walmart, we’re embracing innovation with e-commerce experiences designed with the virtual world at the heart.” Three shops currently available offer fashion and beauty products.

TikTok has expanded its policies surrounding the restriction of state-affiliated media accounts, and issued an updated transparency report providing information on what it is doing to combat covert influence operations. “In the first four months of 2024, we disrupted 15 influence operations and removed 3,001 associated accounts,” said the company. “We found that a majority of these networks were attempting to influence political discourse among their target audience, including in relation to elections. “The move comes as TikTok faces a potential ban in the US.

Snap has redesigned its ad formats, including using its full-screen display to showcase ad offers and messaging, in order to unify the look and feel of promotions in the app. “We’ve focused on designing formats that drive the outcomes and objectives our partners are looking for, and these redesigned formats are helping to maximize the intentionality behind every action a Snapchatter takes on an ad,” said the company in a presentation. Snap is expanding its “Total Takeover” product suite, and plans to launch “a higher-impact AR product” that offers advertisers an all-day takeover of the Lens Carousel.

NBA sponsorship revenue reaches a new high, topping out at over $1.5 billion this season, a 7% increase from the last regular season.
