IN THE NEWS |
| NBC has renewed “St. Denis Medical” and “Happy’s Place” for third seasons. The comedies “have delivered comedic brilliance over their first two seasons, truly connecting with our audience with hilarious characters, and remain hugely important and successful programs to our primetime and Peacock lineup,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, Lisa Katz, NBC & Peacock.
IAB is launching Project Eidos, aimed at accelerating AI-enabled measurement by establishing shared standards for accountability, interoperability, and AI-readiness. “While advanced measurement is widely used across the industry, it’s still falling short of its core promise. The time for a single-channel fix or a one-off framework has passed,” said David Cohen, CEO, IAB. “It’s time to address the foundational issues that have quietly undermined measurement for years.”
Project Eidos wasn’t the only headline from Monday’s IAB Annual Leadership Meeting. The IAB’s State of Data 2026 report showed that while advanced measurement is broadly adopted on the buy-side, 60-75% of users say it falls short on rigor, timeliness, trust, and efficiency. Additional findings include:
· The buy-side believes AI can materially improve advanced measurement within 1-2 years.
· About half report scaling AI within their current advanced measurement frameworks; among those not yet scaling 70%+ expect to do so within 1-2 years.
· Roughly half of the buy-side cite significant or critical concerns related to legal and security risks, accuracy, and data quality within 1-2 years, yet fewer than 40% report having or planning to put solutions in place to mitigate these challenges.
“One of the most important things the report reveals is AI’s potential for improving measurement. But there are major concerns related to legal and security risks, accuracy, and data quality. We need to tackle problems that are systemic and foundational,” noted Angelina Eng, VP, Measurement Center, IAB. “Past workarounds and band-aid approaches have allowed the underlying issues to become worse over time.” |

| The Walt Disney Co. reported fiscal first-quarter revenue of $26 billion, up +5% year-over-year. The company’s SVOD business saw operating income rise 72% to $450 million, reflecting higher subscription fees and improved advertising margins. Revenue for Disney+ and Hulu jumped +11% to $5.3 billion. Operating income for the sports segment dipped -23% to $191 million, attributable in part to the temporary carriage dispute that suspended ESPN and other Disney networks from YouTube TV. Increased programming and production costs for sports rights also contributed to the drop, despite a 10% increase in advertising revenue.
“The good news is that the company is in much better shape today than it was three years ago,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger, who is retiring this year. “We have done a lot of fixing but also put in place a number of opportunities. In a world that changes as much as it does, in some form or another trying to preserve the status quo is a mistake and I’m certain my successor will not do that.”
