 NBCUniversal is charging $14.99/month, or $99 annually, for CNBC+. The new streaming service, offering access to episodes of CNBC business day shows, aims to attract business-oriented viewers for longer periods of time, and a global feed will enable them to follow programming from Asia and Europe. In addition, an all-inclusive, $599.99/year tier will bundle CNBC+ with an online investment club headed by market analyst Jim Cramer. The move comes as CNBC is set to be spun off from NBCU, along other cable networks, later this year. |
| A US appeals court has struck down the Federal Communications Commission’s legal authority to reinstate net neutrality rules initially implemented in 2015 under Barack Obama, then repealed by the FCC in 2017 under Donald Trump. President Joe Biden signed an executive order in 2021 encouraging the FCC to restore the rules, which require internet service providers to treat internet data and users equally rather than restricting access, slowing speeds or blocking content for certain users. The court cited the Supreme Court’s June decision that gave deference to government agencies in interpreting laws they administer. “Applying Loper Bright means we can end the FCC’s vacillations,” the court ruled. The decision leaves state net neutrality rules in place. |

| Netflix dropped a trailer for “With Love, Meghan,” a lifestyle series starring the Duchess of Sussex that premieres Wednesday, January 15. “I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary, and elevating it,” says Markle in the promo, which also features celebrity guests (“This is probably one of the most glamorous moments of my life,” gushes Mindy Kaling).The eight-parter comes from Markle and Prince Harry’s overall deal with their Archewell Productions and Netflix.
Survivalist competition “Extracted” makes its debut Monday, February 10 at 8p on Fox. The show follows 12 untrained competitors attempting to survive in the Canadian wilderness while locked down family members, watching the action via a 24/7 live feed, have the power to extract their loved ones from the grueling competition. |
 NBCUniversal Local’s four-part docuseries “The Swift Effect,” covering the economic impact generated by cultural phenom Taylor Swift, is making its national broadcast debut on NBC stations this month following “Saturday Night Live,” beginning January 4. Following the broadcast debuts, each half-hour episode will encore on COZI TV on Sundays beginning at 6p. The series’ first two episodes are available to stream now on Peacock. “There has been tremendous focus on Taylor the musician, performer, and cultural icon, but her prowess as a businesswoman, brand-builder and marketer has been an untold story, until now,” said Diane Petzke, the series’ executive producer and VP of programming for COZI TV. “We wanted to take a closer look at the economics behind the artist and explore what’s really driving her success on and off the stage.”
“Shining Vale” has found a new home. Canceled after two seasons on Starz, the satirical comedy starring Courteney Cox is now streaming on Max. |

| ABC’s “Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2025 – Part 1” was the No. 1 entertainment program in the two-hour timeslot in both Total Viewers (6.2 million) and A18-49 (1.46 rating) on December 31. Airing from 10:30-11:30p, Part 2 was the No. 1 entertainment program in the hour in both Total Viewers (9.5 million) and the demo (2.39 rating), on a par with last year’s numbers.
Prime Video reports its third exclusive season of “Thursday Night Football” set new all-time highs, with double-digit, year-over-year audience growth. According to Nielsen’s Panel Only measurement, “TNF” on Prime Video posted an +11% average viewership increase among total viewers over the previous season (13.20 million vs. 11.86 million), and a +38% jump over 2022 inaugural season average (9.58 million).
E! boasted 11 billion views in 2024 across digital and social content, up 50% from 2023, according to NBCU data. Instagram had the most views, with 5.6 billion (up 49%), while Facebook clocked the largest growth – +261% – with 1.2 billion views.
Spectrum News was the most-watched news network for news in 2024 among Spectrum customers, with an average 1.76 million daily viewing households across its linear and digital platforms. In July, Spectrum News+ became available to non-Spectrum customers on FAST service, Xumo Play. |
