Happy Valentine’s Day from HBO. The network set Sunday, February 14, at 9p for the debut of rock’n’roll drama Vinyl, from Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter. The 10-ep series will debut with a two-hour premiere directed by Scorsese. Set in the NY music industry scene of the ‘70s as punk, disco and hip-hop were just breaking, Vinyl stars Bobby Cannavale as a record label president trying to save his company and his soul.
The RNC may be calling it an embarrassment, but CNBC is calling it a victory. With an audience averaging 14 million, CNBC’s airing of Wednesday’s GOP debate was the most watched program in the network’s history. The debate averaged 3.5 times as many total viewers and 1.8 times more A25-54 viewers as CNBC’s previous record holder – a 2002 Winter Olympics telecast. Fox News Channel’s GOP debate in August clocked 24 million viewers, and CNN’s GOP debate last month logged 23 million; both also set records for those networks.
Timeless International acquired 2016 rights to the 24th Annual Trumpet Awards Show. The awards, originally presented by Turner Broadcasting, acknowledges the accomplishments of individuals who have significantly enhanced the lives of others by partnering with the cause of equality. The Trumpet Awards entered syndication as a two-hour special in 2008 co-hosted by Samuel & LaTanya Jackson with honorees and guest stars including Chris Tucker, Halle Berry, Usher, Tom Joyner, George Wallace and Danny Glover.

In a rare move, AMC greenlit an unscripted series, Ride With Norman Reedus (wt), slated to debut in 2016. Six one-hour eps will follow actor and biker-enthusiast Reedus on the open road to different cities to explore local motorcycle culture and its history. Series is produced by Left/Right Productions.
Drama Midnight, Texas, based on the book series penned by True Blood author Charlaine Harris, is in development at NBC. Set in the South and embracing the supernatural, the series was written and is exec-produced by Monica Owusu-Breen and exec-produced by David Janollari.
It’s good vs. evil when ABC presents A Villainous View Halloween, complete with fiendish faceoff of the talk show hosts against their heroic archrivals, plus guest Seth MacFarlane, today at 11a.
Get ready to sleep with the light on. With Destination America’s premiere tonight of Exorcism: Live! at 9p, the network is bracing for some unpredictable undead activity. “Between the fact that we’re going to be the first TV network to air a live, televised exorcism along with the fact that this is, well, live TV, the dangers are very real from both a content and a broadcast perspective,” Henry Schleiff, group president of Destination America, Investigation Discovery and American Heroes Channel, tells Cynopsis. “Whether you’re a skeptic or a believer, I can assure you that we are taking this very seriously, and are putting all of the necessary precautions and contingency plans in place. We’re conjuring the unknown here, and truthfully, anything could happen.” Schlieff says both on TV and online, the network will be “totally transparent” with webcams in every room of the house, and viewers at home will be able to weigh in on where the action is and interact and react to them in real time. Exorcism: Live! is produced by Tremendous! Entertainment.
Hallmark Channel’s first original premiere of the net’s “Countdown to Christmas” event, ‘Tis the Season for Love, premieres Sunday, November 1, at 8p. The story follows an out-of-work N.Y. actress whose Christmas takes a turn when she returns home to the quaint small town she escaped 10 years earlier.
Dr. Jill Biden will make her first Late Night with Seth Meyers appearance on Wednesday, November 4, to discuss Heads Up America, a campaign that seeks to offer free access for two years to community college.
The roster of performers for the 49th Annual CMA Awards keeps growing. On tap to take the stage during the event, airing live on ABC on Wednesday, November 4, at 8p, is first-time nominee Chris Stapleton, who joins previously announced Jason Aldean, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley with Lindsey Stirling, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Sam Hunt, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Maddie & Tae, Kacey Musgraves, Paisley, Blake Shelton, Underwood, and Zac Brown Band. The Housewives are crossing the pond. Bravo Media is gearing up for a new flock of housewives with the acquisition of The Real Housewives of Cheshire, premiering Saturday, November 14, at 12p with additional episodes airing every Saturday at 12p. The series follows the newest set of glam girls who run in exclusive social circle in the Northwest England county.
While he’s best known as the minister who married Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Rich Wilkerson Jr. is about to step into his own spotlight. Oxygen Media is giving viewers a look into the personal journey of Wilkerson and his wife DawnChere Wilkerson in new series Rich In Faith, premiering Wednesday, December 2, at 10p. Guiliana Rancic and Jason Kennedy are executive producers.
Also new from Oxygen is Like A Boss, a docu-series about what it takes to be the assistants to some of the biggest power players in Atlanta including Nick Cannon, radio personality Big Tigger and real estate agent Blair Myers. Exec-produced by Cannon, series premieres Tuesday, January 19, at 9p.
Esquire is seeking to crown the next master sommelier with the premiere of Uncorked on Tuesday, November 10, at 10p. Six of N.Y.’s best wine experts compete for the title, held by only 200 around the world.
Esquire’s first scripted series, Spotless, premieres Saturday, November 14, at 10p. Starring Marc-Andre Grondin (C.R.A.Z.Y.), Denis Menochet (Inglourious Basterds), Miranda Raison (24: Live Another Day) and Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey) the London-based irreverent drama follows a troubled man whose life is turned upside down when his outlaw brother crash-lands in his world.
In FYI’s new original series Food Porn, NY restaurateur Michael Chernow sets out to uncover the nation’s most mouth-watering dishes and probe the 70-million-uses-and-counting Instagram hashtag the series is named for. First of 14 half-hour episodes premieres Thursday, December 3, at 9p. Food Porn is produced by Loud TV.
The Real scored third- and fourth-season renewals by its core station group, Fox TV Stations, where the panel talk show opened in summer 2013. The renewal makes it the first syndicated talk show in years to earn even a third-season renewal. In its current second season, The Real is up 14 percent nationally among W25-54. The series is hosted by Tamera Mowry-Housley, Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon and Jeannie Mai.
CMT will unleash a new season of Party Down South on January 7 at 9p. The series will feature original cast members taking the party to Savannah for the first time.
New seasons of HBO series Girls and Togetherness will debut in tandem on Sunday, February 21, beginning at 10p.
It’s cooked or be cooked in season four of Esquire’s Knife Fight, premiering Tuesday, November 10, at 9p. In each ep, two chefs go head to head, making at least two dishes in an hour from a combination of secret ingredients…. Also returning from the net is Going Deep with David Rees, on Wednesday, November 11, at 10p, which continues to probe the science and history behind everyday tasks like taking a nap or petting a dog.
Clea Duvall is a new cast member on USA Network drama pilot Brooklyn Animal Control. Based on J.T. Petty’s IDW Publishing comic, the pilot was written and is exec-produced by Petty and follows a secret subdivision of the NYPD that provides services to the city’s werewolf population.
Fox Television Stations extended the MyNetworkTV programming service for two additional years, through the 2017-18 season.
Canadian public broadcaster CBC greenlit a 13-episode order of half-hour comedy Workin’ Moms, created by Catherine Reitman (black-ish). Based on her personal experiences with motherhood, Reitman will star in the series and also direct. Reitman and husband Philip Sternberg have another Reitman-penned project in development with the CBC, Starting Over, a comedic look at life post-separation.

HGTV scored its best-ever October among A25-54 in primetime, with a .46 rating. The network also broke its October performance record on weekends with a .40 rating in the A25-54 demo.
Discovery‘s Gold Rush was #1 in all of television in M25-54, M18-49 and M18-34 on Friday, Oct. 23 in L+3, making it #1 for two consecutive weeks among Men 25-54.
Wednesday’s finale of Food Network’s Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition posted a .8 rating (790,000 impressions) among A25-54, up 39 percent versus year-ago to rank third among cable in its 9p timeslot. Among A18-34, the competition rose 69 percent for the season versus year-ago. The net ended October with a .5 rating, up 10 versus last year, with almost 54 million P2+ viewers in prime.
Broadcasting from Brooklyn during the week of October 19, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live delivered its largest overall audience since airing from Austin, Texas seven months ago. The telecast grew over the prior week by 25 percent in total viewers. Kimmel also shot up week to week by 29 percent in A18-49, to a four-month high.
VH1 rocked a double-digit growth in its October ratings, increasing its primetime rating average in the A18-49 demo by 33 percent with a 0.4, according to Nielsen data. The network also saw its total October viewership soar 22 percent year-over-year, averaging 645,000 total viewers.
Bounce TV continues to ride the upward trajectory of its original sitcom Family Time. The first four eps each posted viewership gains over the episode the week prior, with episode four becoming the show’s most-watched telecast ever, delivering 286,000 households.
