Local advertising revenue in the US will rise 8.6% to $175.6 billion next year, boosted by the political season, according to BIA Advisory Services’ 2024 US Local Advertising Forecast. Without the projected political revenues, BIA estimates 2024 will bring $164.6 billion in total local advertising, a 2.2% increase year-over-year. “As expected, 2024 will be driven by political spending, and, even in markets that are not highly contested there will be a large amount of political advertising,” said Nicole Ovadia, VP forecasting and analysis, BIA Advisory Services. “Local political advertising will be fueled by the presidential and Senate campaigns as well as issue-based advertising.”

Tyler Perry (“A Madea Homecoming”) has inked a multi-year first-look deal with Netflix to write, direct and produce feature films. Coming up on the streamer are Perry’s “Six Triple Eight,” starring Kerry Washington, and “Mea Culpa,” with Kelly Rowland.

Miramax’s TV adaptation of Robert Altman’s 1994 film “Pret-a-Porter” has moved from Paramount+ to the BBC, where it is in early development, reports Deadline.

NEW & RETURNING SERIES

“Fallout,” based on the video game franchise, premieres Friday, April 12 on Prime Video. The series is set in post-apocalyptic LA.

“BlackBerry,” the 2023 comedy/drama film about the rise and fall of the electronic device, will air as a three-part limited series on AMC November 13-15; all three episodes will be available November 13 on AMC+. The event includes sixteen minutes of added footage.

“Verified Stand-Up,” featuring short sets from ten rising comedians, premieres Tuesday, November 28 on Netflix. The two-parter was filmed at NYC’s Webster Hall.

The final season of TLC’s “The Family Chantel” debuts Monday, November 13 at 9p.

STREAMING

Podcast studio Wondery is launching three FAST channels on Amazon Freevee. The first podcast video channels on Freevee will feature over 20 series, centered around True Crime, Sports, and Entertainment & Pop Culture. Starting October 31, Freevee viewers can access podcasts through a mix of on-camera video, cinemagraphs, animation, and show artwork.

Donna Kelce, mother to two Super Bowl Champions, Philadelphia Eagles’ Jason Kelce and Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce, has a fan shirt declaring she’s “Rooting for the Offense.” (Both Jason and Travis Kelce play on the offense for their respective teams.) FanDuel TV’s daily NBA show “Run It Back” has returned with new co-host and NBA Sixth Man of the Year award winner Lou Williams. Williams joins Michelle Beadle, Shams Charania and Chandler Parsons on the show. “Couldn’t be more excited to start the next chapter of my career off the court and in the studio with such pros like Michelle, Shams and Chandler,” Williams said. “FanDuel TV offered an incredible opportunity to showcase my deep knowledge of the NBA and I jumped on it. Comscore is integrating Roku into its cross-platform measurement solution, Comscore Campaign Ratings. The partnership will allow Comscore’s clients to access Roku-specific co-viewing data. With the integration, Comscore becomes an approved measurement vendor in Roku’s Measurement Partner Program.

Public face recognition search engine PimEyes is banning searches of minors, using age detection AI to identify photos of children as it works on improving its detection system. The move comes amid concerns about children’s privacy.

Nat Geo special “Explorer: Lake of Fire” follows an expedition to discover a “lava lake,” a phenomenon that helps scientists understand volcanic eruptions, on Friday, October 27 at 10p.

“25 Years With Lidia: A Culinary Jubilee” offers an ode to restaurateur, author and TV host Lidia Bastianich. The special airs on PBS on Monday, December 18 at 8p, with appearances from Jacques Pepin, Mary Sue Milliken, Elizabeth Falkner, Geoffrey Zakarian, childhood friend Christopher Walken and more.

HappyKids has added new Halloween content, including “Like Nastya Halloween Special,” “Ryan and Friends Halloween Special” and Halloween episodes of “Blippi.”

Fox comedy “Animal Control” will air on UK’s E4. The series starring Joel McHale has been renewed for a second season in the US.

UK’s Channel 4 has commissioned Wonderhood Studios to produce a second, expanded season of “Super Surgeons: A Chance at Life,” which follows patients and their surgeons as they prepare for and undergo pioneering and surgeries using cutting edge technologies.

MGA Entertainment, its subsidiary MGA Studios, and CAKE have signed a multi-year agreement for distribution of a new video series from MGA Studios, “Armorsaurs.” The series is a remake of the hit 2021 South Korean television show “Armored Saurus.”

The season ten finale of Hallmark Channel’s “When Calls the Heart” was the most-watched episode of the season among Total Viewers, Women and Persons 18+, W55+, and HHs. The episode was the #1 most-watched entertainment cable program on Sunday and of the week among HHs, Women and P18+, and Total Viewers; the season reached 7.3 million unduplicated viewers.

“NBC Sunday Night Football” drew 16.7 million total viewers and a 4.6 rating among A18-49, up 18% and 21%, respectively, from early Nielsens for last week.

The season one finale of “Yellowstone” on CBS drew 4.1 million total viewers and 0.3 in the A18-49 demo. Season two of the Western drama, borrowed from corporate sib Paramount Network, kicks off on Sunday.
