NEW & RETURNING SERIES

They’re ba-a-a-a-ck….Season 4 of ID’s Evil Twins launches Monday, September 25 at 10p, with a set of sibs undone by the pressure to be exceptional. Times two.

Daily pop culture program Page Six TV, from Endemol Shine North America and the New York Post, premieres in national syndication today. What sets the show, modeled after the Post gossip column, apart? “What differentiates Page Six TV is our host and contributors,” exec producer Michael Weinberg tells Cynopsis. “We have genuine insiders and journalists analyzing the stories, bringing their perspective, and using their sources to take the narrative to the next level. They are the ones behind the velvet ropes and not just on the red carpets.”

Mom joins the TV Land lineup today. During the CBS comedy’s first 2 weeks on the cable net, episodes from seasons 1-4 will air weeknights from 10-11p and 1a-2a, with seasons 1 and 2 airing the first week and seasons 3 and 4 airing the second. Mom also starts airing on Viacom sib CMT on Monday, October 2.

COMING UP

The early days of the U.S.’s war in Afghanistan are explored in Legion of Brothers, premiering Sunday, September 24 at 9p on CNN. The film encores at 11:30p; both broadcasts air with limited commercial interruption. “On one level, it’s an unprecedented telling of the origins for a war Americans seem to now debate,” said Amy Entelis, executive vice president for talent and content development for CNN Worldwide. “On another level, it’s an examination of the full costs of war for the tiny percentage of Americans who experience it first-hand.”

CASTING

Jack Whitehall (Fresh Meat), Michael McKean (Better Call Saul) and Miranda Richardson (Churchill) have joined Amazon’s Good Omens, based on the novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman….Morgan Spector (Boardwalk Empire) landed a series regular role on season 7 of Homeland and Mackenzie Astin (Scandal) will recur….Add Corey Stoll (The Strain), Andrew Rannells (Girls), Mike Doyle (Odd Mom Out), JJ Feild (Turn: Washington’s Spies), Janet Montgomery (Salem) and Paul Reiser (Red Oaks) to the cast of Amazon anthology series The Romanoffs.

GOING GLOBAL

Poker Central and DOUPAI.TV signed a licensing agreement to bring the World Series of Poker Main Event to China. The deal, which runs through 2021, will include live broadcasting of the WSOP Main Event final table and highlight episodes of the WSOP Main Event beginning in Q4.

TRT World has partnered with Australian pay TV provider Foxtel for a deal that will make TRT World available to Foxtel’s cable and satellite subscribers on channel 652.

ITV2 commissioned Keshet UK for comedy entertainment show Celebrity Showmance, launching in MIPCOM next month.

CBS may not get Australia’s Network Ten after all. Although CBS announced last month it had agreed to acquire the broadcaster, its largest shareholder, Bruce Gordon, and Lachlan Murdoch made a new bid, upping their offer. The move came the day after a Senate vote in favor of lifting owner restrictions.

ADVERTISING

“Not seeing it at all,” said CBS Corp. chairman and CEO Les Moonves, asked on CNBC whether TV advertising might see the softening of scatter prices predicted by Magna back in June. “We just came off an extremely strong upfront – CPMs were up, volume was up,” said Moonves, calling delayed viewing “a bigger and bigger piece of the pie.”

Cigna’s out with a new they-played-doctors-on-TV campaign, and this time Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howers, M.D.) and Kate Walsh (Grey’s Anatomy) are playing along. Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) and Donald Faison (Scrubs) returned, too.

DIGITAL DATA

Subscribers to SVOD services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon are a generous bunch, according Hub Entertainment Research, at least when it comes to sharing passwords. Hub reports 1/3 of all viewers age 16-74 have used the login credentials of someone outside their home to access TV shows online, and just about as many have given out their own passwords to someone outside their household. Not surprisingly, younger consumers are the biggest sharers, with 56% of those 18-34 having watched on someone else’s account, and 47% giving out their own password.

VIDEOS IN SHORT

In new 6-part digital series Training Spaces, TLC’s Trading Spaces experts put new designers and carpenters to the test with “boot camp” challenges that prove them worthy of joining the team (and also introduce them to viewers). The series, presented by Lowe’s, will be released on TLC Go in spring 2018.

Tia Mowry (Tia Mowry at Home) dives into digital with Tia Mowry’s Quick Fix. New episodes will post each week on YouTube, with additional distribution on social. Kin Studios is producing in conjunction with UTA.
