While acknowledging that the recent hurricanes will impact the bottom line of pay TV operators, competition from OTT services poses the biggest threat, Jefferies analyst Mike McCormack told investors. “We expect an especially weak quarter for video, and although partially storm-related, we believe changing behaviors will continue to weigh on overall video subscribers,” said McCormack, who also expressed doubt that some programmers will be able to “elegantly migrate customers to an apps-based video viewing, and offset lost margin dollars on higher-margin broadband.” The analyst’s comments come the week after Comcast and AT&T reported that storm disruption and OTT competition would tamp down subscriber growth for the quarter.

Estrella TV is taking to the great outdoors to tout its programming, talent and brand, in a campaign running September 18-November 30 that will include a prominent presence in NYC’s Times Square.
