Twitter and Elon Musk’s legal team have both subpoenaed Peiter “Mudge” Zatko, former Twitter head of security and current whistleblower, related to his claims that Twitter has privacy and security vulnerabilities that put investors and national security at risk. Musk is attempting to extricate himself from his $44 billion deal to buy the company, and has been asking for data related to bot accounts; Twitter is asking for documents relating to Zatko’s exit from the company, as well as documents related to “the impact or effect of false or spam accounts on Twitter’s business and operations.”

QAnon believers “have flocked” to Donald Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, according to media watchdog NewsGuard, which reports the former president and top executives working for the platform “actively promote” the QAnon accounts. NewsGuard found 88 users promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory on Truth Social, each to more than 10,000 followers. Thirty-two of those accounts were previously banned by Twitter. QAnon supporters contend that Trump and an anonymous government operative dubbed “Q” are working to take down a “deep state” network of child sex traffickers. In response to NewsGuard’s findings, Truth Social said in a statement that it had “reopened the internet and given the American people their voice back.”

The Federal Trade Commission is suing mobile analytics company Kochava for allegedly selling potentially sensitive location data. “In numerous instances, defendant has sold, licensed, or otherwise transferred precise geolocation data associated with unique persistent identifiers that reveal consumers’ visits to sensitive locations, including, among others, locations associated with medical care, reproductive health, religious worship, mental health, temporary shelters, such as shelters for the homeless, domestic violence survivors, or other at-risk populations, and addiction recovery,” claims the FTC’s in a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Idaho. Kochava says it “does not collect, then subsequently sell data compilation that allows one to track a specific individual to a specific location.”

HBO is in production on the documentary “BS High,” chronicling the Bishop Sycamore high school football scandal. Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe (“Two Distant Strangers”) direct the film, which will debut on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max in 2023.

Filming on Apple TV+ series “Lady in the Lake” was halted in Baltimore on Friday when a driver on the production crew was approached by two men who tried to extort $50,000, warning if they weren’t paid, they’d return and shoot someone. “We are working with the Baltimore Police Department as the investigation is ongoing,” said a statement from the studio, Endeavor Content. “The safety and security of our crew, cast and all who work across our productions is our highest priority, and we are thankful no one was injured. Production will resume with increased security measures going forward.”

NBC is still in the holiday movie business with Dolly Parton, and this time around, Jimmy Fallon, Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Allen and Zach Williams are along for the ride. They’ll guest star in “Dolly Parton’s Magic Christmas,” produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with Magnolia Hill Productions and Sandollar Productions.

Dewayne Perkins (“The Amber Ruffin Show”) has been tapped to write and executive produce Fox’s animated series “Clue,” based on the board game. Tim Story will executive produce with Lynn Barrie for The Story Company. The project comes from Hasbro’s eOne and Fox Entertainment-owned Bento Box Entertainment.

Teri Hatcher (“Desperate Housewives”) and James Tupper (“Big Little Lies”) play former high school sweethearts in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries original Mid-Love Crisis.” Brian Markinson (“Mayor of Kingstown”), June Laporte (“When Calls the Heart”) and Matreya Scarrwener (“Lies Between Friends”) also star.

James Cromwell (“Succession”) and Anna Gunn (“Breaking Bad”) will recur on in Apple TV+ series “Sugar,” while Dennis Boutsikaris (“Better Call Saul”), Alex Hernandez (“Invasion”) and Lindsay Pulsipher (“The Beast”) have joined Colin Farrell, Amy Ryan and Kirby Howell-Baptiste in series regular roles.

Apple TV+ shared its fall slate of kids and family series. Coming up in September are “Peanuts Anthology II” (September 9); new series “Sago Mini Friends” (September 16); and second seasons of “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory” and “Get Rolling with Otizs” (September 30).

The ten-episode first half of season four of “Manifest” premieres on Netflix November 4. The drama was canceled by NBC last year, then picked up by the streamer for a final season.

Season 41 of PBS’s “Nature” kicks off October 19 with “Running with the Beest,” tracking the mass movements of wildebeests across East Africa.

Six-part documentary series “The Vow Part Two” debuts on HBO Monday, October 17 at 9p, with new episodes on subsequent Mondays. The series follows the legal and emotional journeys of the founders, supporters and defectors of NXIVM as new evidence and revelations about the sex cult come to light.

Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment has partnered with PetSmart to create a 10-episode series celebrating pet parents. “Pet Caves” will premiere on Chicken Soup for the Soul on September 1.


NBC’s “Dateline” is diving into subscription podcasts with Dateline Premium. A $2.99/month subscription on Apple Podcasts offers over 400 ad-free hours of true-crime content, including bonus monthly episodes and early access to six-episode series “lnternal Affairs.”

Imagicomm Entertainment’s Cowboy Way FAST channel is now available on XUMO, the third streaming platform to launch the channel in the last three months (after Roku and Plex). “Since we unveiled the channel a few months ago, the response from our streaming partners has been fantastic,” said Jonathan Collins, VP of Imagicomm. “Cowboy Way is unique in the FAST universe in that the content is geared towards a younger generation who appreciate cowboy culture.”

A channel dedicated to “The Ed Sullivan Show,” which ran on CBS from 1948-1971, makes its debut on Pluto TV on September 1. Also launching that day is 2000s Replay, featuring movies from Y2K.

VlogBox, a CTV channel development, content distribution, and monetization platform, has a new channel, Kids Room TV, to help cartoon creators expand their audiences. Kids Room TV is currently available on Roku, and will go live on Apple TV, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV in a month. VlogBox is also working on ensuring app availability on top streaming services.


NBC Sports and the Premier League are heading to Philadelphia for the next Premier League Mornings Live fan festival, running October 15-16, and featuring live action from nine Premier League fixtures presented across NBC, Peacock, USA Network, Telemundo and Universo. NBC Sports’ studio team of host Rebecca Lowe and analysts Robbie Earle, Robbie Mustoe and Tim Howard will broadcast Premier League Mornings Live presented by Barclays, from the event on USA Network and Peacock beginning at 7a
Sunday will see NFL Network carry the 2022 Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic featuring Central State University vs. Winston-Salem State University at 4p. Play-by-play announcer Steve Wyche, and analysts Charles Davis and Bucky Brooks are on the call for NFL Network, joined by Cameron Wolfe on the sidelines. Additionally, NFL Network will air the entire halftime performances from both school bands – Central State’s Invincible Marching Marauders and Winston-Salem State’s Red Sea of Sound – live.

The Baltimore Orioles and Fanatics locked in a new 10-year partnership that sees Fanatics step up as the team’s official end-to-end omnichannel retail partner starting next year. Fanatics will now overtake operations of all in-venue retail locations at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, including the Orioles Team Store located on Eutaw Street. Over the course of the partnership, Fanatics and the Orioles will together make “a significant investment to elevate the team’s overall stadium retail footprint and enhance the fan experience on gameday and beyond.”

Fantasy sports analyst Matthew Berry, who recently joined NBC Sports, is relaunching his free Fantasy Life website and announced that KFC has joined as the presenting sponsor of both the FantasyLife.com re-launch as well as for a new weekly podcast, featuring Matthew Berry’s Fantasy Life. The NFL Network’s Marcas Grant will be the host of the show.

Michelob ULTRA is honoring Serena Williams’ final appearance at the U.S. Open, with a spot that honors both “sides of Serena Williams and the joy she exemplifies” on the court and off. Williams serves as a year-round ambassador for the brand and is featured in Michelob ULTRA’s two most recent Super Bowl advertisements: ‘Superior Bowl’ in 2022 and ‘Happy’ in 2021.

SiriusXM announced that the second season of “Let’s Go!” – the show hosted by 5-time NFL Super Bowl MVP quarterback Tom Brady, former All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and Hall of Fame Emmy Award-winning broadcaster Jim Gray – will debut on September 5, and air weekly throughout the 2022 NFL season. In its first season, Let’s Go! reached the top of the charts among sports podcasts and new episodes will debut every Monday at 6p on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio.


Hyundai is putting Netflix viewers in the driver’s seat for car chase film “Seoul Vibe.” The movie, set during the 1988 Seoul Olympics, features first-generation Hyundai vehicles. A cinematic digital ad, using the movie’s story and cast, unveils the new Grandeur. Global metaverse platform Zepeto will provide a virtual experience space where visitors can assemble and drive the vehicles featured in the movie.

Facebook has agreed to settle a lawsuit alleging the company violated users’ privacy by sharing their information with outside developers. The deal, which needs the stamp of approval by a US District Court judge, would resolve a legal battle that launched amid revelations that now-defunct consultancy Cambridge Analytica harvested information from millions of Facebook users without their knowledge. The specifics of the settlement are expected to be revealed by the end of October.

Entravision has entered into a strategic partnership with LATV Networks, a minority-owned and operated media company serving the Latino community as a content hub, talent incubator and cultural advocate. “This partnership addresses many of the challenges of marketing to our diverse and nuanced culture,” said Andres Palencia, CEO of LATV Networks. “Together, Entravision and LATV Networks will deliver unprecedented value to advertisers looking for innovative and flexible ways to reach Hispanic consumers of all ages, language choices, and media consumption preferences.”


Japan’s Nippon TV has licensed 13 anime titles to Netflix to stream non-exclusively around the world. The first titles to start streaming, on September 1, are “Hunter X Hunter,” “Ouran High School Host Club” and “Claymore.”
