The upcoming Metarama Gaming + Music Festival unveiled its lineup of pro gamers, musicians and streaming stars who will be embracing Las Vegas on Oct 19-20. Among the list of talent will be Marshmello, Ninja, Logic, Jacksepticeye, Snoop Dogg, Imagine Dragons, Sodapoppin and Alan Walker for a “celebration of the worlds of gaming, esports and live music, along with comedy, streaming and cosplay.” Other participants are set to include Nick Eh 30, DrLupo, Lindsey Stirling, Pokimane, Shaq, TimTheTatMan, NickMercs, Lil Yachty, and Grouplove. The gaming festival will include Metarama Masters, a celebrity Pro-Am tournament featuring musicians and gamers, a Streamer Zone, and a LAN Center with day-long amateur gaming tournaments. 

ELEAGUE opened doors to give fans their first taste of Gears 5 when eight pro teams congregate on ELEAGUE Arena in Atlanta for The ELEAGUE Gears Summer Series Invitational. The event will take place July 13-14, with live coverage beginning each day at noon on ELEAGUE’s Twitch channel and live.gearsofwar.com. Live streaming coverage of the Invitational will be anchored by experienced ELEAGUE host Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez, with analysis from a panel of Gears of War experts including former professional player Jourdan “Ribs” Ribeiro, retired coach Jacob “PR” Arce, and casters Ben “Benson” Bowe,Guy “Blaze” Spencer, Colin Clarke, Loviel “Velly” Cardwell, and reporter Jourdan Kerl.
The International 2019 reportedly locked in plans for its open qualifier, regional qualifier, and group stage event dates with the action set to launch on July 3, followed by regionals from July 8-15, group state play from Aug. 15-18 and main play spanning Aug. 20-25.
BLAST Pro Series is heading to Moscow on Sept. 14, lining up six teams to compete for $250,000. “BLAST Pro Series is stopping by one of the world’s greatest Megacities on Earth: Moscow, Russia. The League of Legends European Championship will see its 2019 Summer Finals hit Athens, Greece on Sept. 7-8. This will mark the first time a European League of Legends finals event has been held in the country.
Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe is kicking off its Dragon Ball FighterZ-World Tour on June 28-30 in Daytona Beach, Fla. The trek, which is slated to run into early 2020, will feature players from around the world competing to be grand champion at the Dragon Ball FighterZ –World Tour Red Bull Finals in France.
Marketing and creative design firm The Trade Group will serve as general services contractor for the upcoming Pokemon North American International Championships. The Trade Group will provide an on-site assist for the event running from June 21-23 at the Greater Columbus (Ohio) Convention Center that will house Pokemon trading card and video game competitions.
DreamHack announced plans to invite the winners of the all women’s CS:GO championship DreamHack Showdown to its next DreamHack Open stop in Rotterdam. In addition, the DreamHack Open Summer champions will receive a direct invite to CORSAIR DreamHack Masters Malmö in October later this year. “We want to improve the continuity of our tournaments, for both players and viewers by building a bigger connection between our events,” said DreamHack Co-CEO Marcus Lindmark. “Most recently, we announced that we’ll be hosting an all women’s CS:GO championship in Valencia, Spain with a prize pool of $100,000 USD, entitled ‘DreamHack Showdown.’ Today, we are taking things to the next level – by inviting the champions of DreamHack Showdown to our next DreamHack Open stop in Rotterdam, Netherlands. In addition, the DreamHack Open Summer champions will receive a direct invite to CORSAIR DreamHack Masters Malmö happening in October later this year.
The 2019 CWL Championship locked in Los Angeles to serve as host from Aug. 16-18, at Pauley Pavilion on UCLA’s campus. The venue marks the event’s return to Los Angeles after stops in Orlando and Columbus the past two years.

Last week, E3 took over Downtown Los Angeles, enabling gamers to connect face to face with the game franchises and publishers that define their free time.   • The Nintendo Spike: Nintendo’s press conference leads in Peak CCV by a margin of 106k viewers. Additionally, the majority of Nintendo’s viewer audience came from YouTube, representing 40.5% of the audience.

Upper Deck announced the global release of Overwatch League trading cards, marking the first-ever esports league-licensed trading card product and available for purchase via Upper Deck e-Pack. The new product commemorates the Overwatch League’s inaugural season with a 125-card base set, combined with multiple insert sets that celebrate key player and team moments throughout the season. Insert sets include Season 1 Highlights, League Leaders, Team Leaders, and unique Holo F/X cards featuring Overwatch League All-Stars on a layered holographic background. Myesports Ventures, a company building Canada’s first esports Arena, and HyperX announced an exclusive partnership where HyperX is the exclusive internals and peripherals partner of TGS. The Gaming Stadium features a large main gaming stage equipped with 12 PCs, a gaming area off-stage of 48 PCs and boasts seating for up to 110 spectators. All 60 PCs will feature HyperX internals including memory and storage as well as HyperX peripherals including headsets, keyboards, mousepads, and mice. The Gaming Stadium opens its doors June 28.
Ubisoft named Acer‘s Predator brand as the official PC and monitor sponsor of the Rainbow Six Pro League, spanning upcoming Majors as well as co-branding and co-promotion activities running across North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America through Nov. 2020, kicking off this week with Rainbow Six Pro League Season X. “Both Acer and Ubisoft share a strong commitment to support esports professional teams and fanbase and we cannot wait to showcase the full extent of this partnership during our next events,” said Geoffroy Sardin, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, Ubisoft EMEA. “Partnering with such a key esports and technology expert reinforces our confidence in the success, current and future, of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six esports as it keeps on growing and maturing.”
League of Legends and Riot Games announced that Alienware signed on as a presenting partner for Rift Rivals, which runs June 27-29. “As an integral partner across the League of Legends and esports ecosystem, we’re delighted to have Alienware become the first-ever presenting sponsor of Rift Rivals,” said Matt Archambault, Head of Esports Partnerships & Business Development for North America at Riot Games. “Given their commitments to both the LCS and LEC leagues, in addition to Global Events, we’re eager to level-up the event as our own Ryder Cup, complete with unique activations for both onsite fans and our viewers.”
Counter Logic Gaming cemented a deal with sports style brand FILA to serve as the Official Apparel Partner for CLG’s Fortnite team. Beginning in July, CLG players will wear select FILA products throughout the broadcast of the first ever Fortnite World Cup. The partnership is also set to include brand integration for FILA across CLG’s Fortnite Team digital platforms including player Twitch Streams and the CLG Twitter feed.
Dignitas unveiled a partnership with the Esports Entertainment Group, a licensed online gambling company focused on esports wagering and 18+ gaming. The deal sees VIE.gg, a bet exchange-style wagering platform become an Official Partner of the team. The multi-year partnership sees VIE.gg receive placement on the back of Dignitas’ competitive uniforms for the Rocket League, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Women and Super Smash Bros teams, and exposure on Dignitas social media platforms, website and more. Dignitas’ World Champion Rocket League and CS:GO Female teams and Super Smash Brothers stars will represent VIE.gg on the team’s jersey, live streams and social media branding.
Complexity Gaming announced a partnership with the U.S. Army Installation Management Command’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation program to integrate esports into its Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program. After Complexity athletes lived and trained like U.S. Army soldiers at Fort Bliss in El Paso this past weekend, from June 28-30, select U.S. Army personnel will in turn join Complexity athletes for a gaming bootcamp at Complexity’s GameStop Performance Center (GSPC) at The Star in Frisco.

Twitch added esports-focused social platform Bebo to its plate in a deal reported to be worth $25 million, besting rival bids from Discord and Facebook. According to reports, the Bebo team will now work on Twitch’s own esports endeavors with a spotlight on Twitch Rivals, which currently hosts events for titles such as Apex Legends, Dota 2, Rainbow Six Siege, and more.
Meanwhile, Epic Games announced the acquisition of Houseparty, a social video app for desktop and mobile devices. The video app allows users to chat online and leave video messages. “Houseparty brings people together, creating positive social interactions in real time,” said Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Epic Games in a statement. “By teaming up, we can build even more fun, shared experiences than what could be achieved alone.”

Following their recent acquisition of social video network Framerate, Super League Gaming launched an updated version of Superleague.com that will now feature an Esports Experiences Directory with opportunities across game titles, geographies and competitive formats, listing hundreds of opportunities for gamers to develop their skills and showcase their gameplay each month, including events, camps, and digital and local in-person esports competitions. Superleague.com also now includes a section dedicated to SuperLeagueTV, which includes real-time broadcasts from SuperLeagueTV’s Twitch channel, select videos on-demand and a schedule of upcoming broadcasts, as well as a brand new editorial section featuring content about Super League’s proprietary competitions.

More sweet sounds for ReKTGlobal, as the company – parent company of Rogue – announced that DJ Nicky Romero would be joining its growing list of celebrity investors. In addition to sitting on the board with Steve Aoki, he joins Imagine Dragons, Latin music producer Tainy, and music executive Lex Borrero as co-owners of the company. “As esports is rapidly growing and dominating the culture right now, we are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to intersect music and ultimately reach the fans,” said Amish Shah, co-founder of ReKTGlobal. “With Rogue’s recent global expansion and entry into the new League of Legends Europe Championship (LEC), DJ Nicky Romero is the perfect fit. Counter Logic Gaming on June 19 will open the Newegg Streaming Studio at its performance center in Los Angeles, which will be available to those in the area with need for a quality streaming venue. In addition to regular influencer streams, CLG and Newegg want to proffer special streaming events from the space. 

Mexico’s TV Azteca, the top sports television network in the country, and Black Ridge Acquisition Corp. entered into a term sheet which would provide for TV Azteca to become a shareholder of Allied Esports through an equity investment in Black Ridge Acquisition Corp. totaling $5 million. Highlights from the term sheet include TV Azteca and Allied Esports creating a 24-hour digital esports channel dedicated to esports and video gaming for the Mexican market; TV Azteca and Allied Esports developing a network of esports talent across Mexico and Latin America; TV Azteca and Allied Esports building a flagship esports venue and additional esports and content facilities in the Mexican market; TV Azteca and Allied Esports producing and distributing co-branded esports programming in the market; and Allied Esports developing a localized online esports tournament platform for the market.
