IN THE NEWS
Is Fox News’ “Hannity” moving to 8p, to fill the slot left open by Tucker Carlson’s exit? That’s what Drudge Report claims, along with Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld moving to primetime. Too early to call, according to a Fox News spokesperson, who said, “No decision has been made on a new primetime line-up and there are multiple scenarios under consideration.”
A decision has been made on who will fill Chris Cuomo’s former spot on CNN. As expected after she won kudos from CNN boss Chris Licht for moderating the net’s town hall with Donald Trump, Kaitlin Collins will leave “CNN This Morning” for primetime. The new program, set to launch next month, will feature interviews with newsmakers and panel discussions covering two to three topics per night. Cuomo was let in December 2021 for improperly advising his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
A reimagined version of “The Joe Schmo Show” will debut next year on TBS. Hosted by Cat Deeley (“So You Think You Can Dance”), the show pokes fun at reality TV by making a regular guy believe he is competing on a reality show, when he is in fact, surrounded by a cast of improv comedians. “When The Joe Schmo Show launched 20 years ago, it was ahead of its time,” said Jason Sarlanis, President, Turner Networks, ID and HLN, linear & streaming. “In rebooting this classic for a modern, savvy audience, it gives us the opportunity to comment on the often absurd and hilarious tropes of reality television in ways our viewers will love.”
Care for “Dinner and a Movie”? TBS is also reviving the cooking and entertainment show, which ran on the network from 1995-2011.
MGM+ picked up 10-episode “The Winter King,” a revisionist take on Arthurian legends, based on Bernard Cornwell’s Warlord Chronicles series. Produced by Sony Pictures Television-owned Bad Wolf, the global series premiere is scheduled for August 20 at 9p MGM+.
Canela Media inked an exclusive two-year partnership with Hemisphere Media Group, a media company targeting the US Hispanic and Latin American markets with television networks and digital content offerings. The partnership aims to co-produce original films in 2023 and 2024.
Alison Sweeney, executive producer and star of the Hannah Swensen Mystery movies, will be back for another installment of the TV movies based on Joanne Fluke’s novels for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. “Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery,” the second in the series, airs on HM&M on May 19 at 9p.
“Transformers” producer Michael Bay will EP a true crime docuseries for ID, premiering in 2024. “I’m a storyteller at heart. I’m fascinated by the human mind and exploring what makes each of us tick,” said Bay. “When you approach documenting real-life crime from that perspective, the end result is always intriguing. Known for the caliber of their programming, Investigation Discovery’s expertise in unscripted true crime is second to none, and I can’t wait to expose one of the most twisted crimes of the century.”
Max has ordered “Conan O’Brien Must Go,” a travel series from O’Brien’s Conaco. “My fans around the globe never asked me to visit them, so I did,” said the former late-night host.
Selena Gomez has two projects set at Food Network. Launching later in 2023 is a “celebration-focused series just in time for the holidays”; and a series that has the “Only Murders in the Building” star meeting top chefs to learn their most popular dishes will debut in 2024. July Moon Productions and The Intellectual Property Corporation will produce. It’s not Gomez’s first stint in the kitchen for WBD – she also starred in HBO Max’s “Selena + Chef.”
Hulu extended its deal for “The Kardashians” for 20 more episodes. Season three of the Fulwell 73 Productions reality show premieres May 25.
CNN has three nonfiction series in the works. “Columbia: The Final Flight” (w/t) tells the story of the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster; “TinderBox: Great Moments in Pop Culture” (w/t) focuses on big TV moments; and “Spy Wars” looks back at Cold War spies.
NEW & RETURNING SERIES
TNT is launching a second night of professional wrestling with a new series, “AEW: Collision” on Saturday, June 17. The live, two-hour show will air Saturdays at 8p with headliners including Miro, Samoa Joe, Thunder Rosa, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Andrade El Idolo.
The third and final season of Apple TV+ dramedy “Physical” premieres August 2. “We are so grateful to Apple, Tomorrow Studios, and all our creative collaborators for the chance to bring Sheila to life in all her gritty glory,” said star and executive producer Rose Byrne and creator, writer and executive producer Annie Weisman. “With this final season, Sheila’s three act saga of rebellion, recovery, and redemption comes to the satisfying conclusion that she and her fans so richly deserve.”
Next stop: Comeback City. OWN’s “Love & Marriage” franchise heads to Detroit for the new season, kicking off June 24 at 9p.
“Downey’s Dream Cars,” a docuseries following Robert Downey Jr. bringing classic cars into the climate-conscious future, premieres with two episodes on June 22…
…Which is the same day season two of “And Just Like That” drops on Max. The season will include eleven episodes.
Season three of true crime series “Real Murders of Orange County” launches May 30 at 9p on Oxygen, exploring the sordid side of opulent coastal communities.
A second season of “The Lazarus Project,” making its season one debut on June 4, has been ordered by TNT. A sneak peek of the British drama will be offered following the Stanley Cup finals game on June 3.
COMING UP
Jason Momoa will serve as Master of Ceremonies for Discovery Channel’s 35th Shark Week, launching July 11. “I am beyond excited to take you along on this journey,” said Momoa. “This project means more to me than a week of talking about sharks. It’s a chance for me to learn and share my connection to these amazing creatures. My love of sharks came long before my time as ‘Aquaman’ – it began several generations before me.”
“The Beanie Bubble,” starring Zach Galifianakis, Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Snook and Geraldine Viswanathan, will premiere in select theaters on July 21 and globally on Apple TV+ on July 28. The film centers on the unsung heroes of the Beanie Baby toy craze.
Omens Studios has further expanded the “Leo the Wildlife Ranger” universe, launching new VR and “It’s Hero Time!” shorts on YouTube this month. CMT will premiere one-hour concert special “Carly Pearce – 29: Written In Stone (Live From Music City)” on Saturday, May 20 at 12p, with subsequent re-airs on CMT Music and MTV Live.
It’s back to the beach for NATPE Global. NATPE Global brings the entire media ecosystem together under one umbrella to do business in the world’s most valuable market for content.”
The Producers Guild Awards have been slated for February 24 in LA. Nominations in film and TV categories will run from December 21 to January 11.

SPORTS ROUNDUP
Perry Sook, CEO of Nexstar, was asked what he learned from last Sunday’s LIV event on The CW, when the linear broadcast shifted to the CW app during a play-off to determine the winner. At a media conference hosted by SVP MoffettNathanson, Sook said, “What we’ve learned is you probably don’t want to switch to the app with a three-man playoff with Dustin Johnson in it with three holes to go. But usage of the app on Sunday was up 340%, so life wasn’t all bad.”
“Writers deserve a contract that provides the work conditions necessary for their creativity to thrive,” said a statement from sports unions including the Major League Baseball Players Association, the National Football League Players Association, the National Basketball Players Association, the Women’s National Basketball Players Association, the National Hockey League Players Association, the Major League Soccer Players Association, the National Women’s Soccer League Players Association, and the United States Women’s National (Soccer) Team Players Association. Digital workflow company ServiceNow and the National Hockey League struck a multiyear North American partnership. As an Official NHL Partner, ServiceNow will enhance game day operations, streamline employee productivity, and support new connected fan experiences.
