On the heels of a record-breaking premiere for “Die Hart 2: Die Harter,” Roku has renewed the Kevin Hart series for a third season. “Die Hart is one of my favorite projects to act in and produce. I am so excited to get back to set to shoot season three,” said Hart. “My fans are the best and their reaction to season two fuels Hartbeat to keep raising the bar.” The show was the #1 Roku Original TV series weekend opener of all time by both unique views and streaming hour engagement.
The full list of nominations for the 83rd annual Peabody Awards were announced Thursday, and PBS led the pack with 12 nods, followed by six for HBO Max and four for Apple TV+. “From hilarious and heartfelt comedies to interactive and immersive stories that leverage technology to create gripping narratives, Peabody is dedicated to recognizing compelling stories across the media landscape,” said Peabody executive director Jeffrey Jones. Winners will be announced May 9.

TV streaming drives down funnel action – that’s the conclusion of a joint whitepaper from Roku and Microsoft, Reimagining Cross-Channel Measurement, which looked at actions consumers take after seeing a Microsoft ad or Roku TV streaming ad. Roku TV streaming ads lead to a 9% increase in brand searches per user and 11% increase in clicks per user, according to the report, and cross-channel exposure increases engagement – exposure to Roku ads lead to a nearly 18% increase overall in click-through rate on the Microsoft Audience Network. The findings are evidence that the advertising products work better together helping consumers discover, research and purchase products.
Over the past five years, engagement with gaming has increased across every demographic, platform, and genre, and 45% of gamers are spending more time gaming than ever, according to Fandom’s “Inside Gaming” study. Additional highlights include:

Country music star Tim McGraw is launching his own company, Down Home Media, based in Nashville. “Country music has always been about storytelling,” said McGraw. “Our stories are honest vignettes of life and family and community. That’s how I grew up, those are the stories I like to tell, and that’s what I want our company to be about.” The new venture closed an investment and first-look deal with Skydance Media; as part of the deal, Skydance will develop film and TV projects with Down Home as well as channel IP and other material.
Prime Video greenlit a feature documentary film from Roc Nation, Known, and Creative Control that chronicles the history of a basketball tradition, the McDonald’s All American Games, annual exhibitions of next-generation talent for high school seniors. The documentary tells the story of the cultural phenomenon through the eyes of the legends it’s created, the lives it’s changed, and the communities it’s transformed. Production began at last year’s Games and will include coverage from the 2022 and 2023 Games in addition to historical moments from the showcase.

“Radford Reborn” premieres today, April 14, following historic British automotive company Radford Motors as it sets out to create the Radford Type 62-2, a reimagined version of the fabled Lotus Type 62. The docuseries can be found on Speedvision, a cable channel relaunched last year and headed by Bob Scanlon, who co-founded the original in 1995. Scanlon explains why Speedvision is a wild ride, in Cynsiders.
Pete Davidson, who left “SNL” last year after eight seasons, will return to host the show on May 6. Davidson’s new series, “Bupkis,” premieres on Peacock on May 4.
“Cocaine Bear: The True Story,” chronicling the events that inspired the hit movie “Cocaine Bear,” premieres today, April 14 on Peacock – the same day the horror comedy drops on the streamer.

Telemundo, Spanish-language home of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™, kicked off the “La Copa Es Nuestra / The Cup is Ours” marketing campaign in celebration of the 100-day countdown to the start of the tournament on July 20. All 64 matches will be televised live and exclusively in Spanish on Telemundo and Universo and stream live on Peacock.
