  1. Do your homework – It’s never been easier to learn about someone than with today’s online searches. Take time to learn about someone before meeting to make the initial conversation even more productive.
  1. Go beyond social media. Tremendous networking can be done via social media but always try to go beyond the medium to meet in person, connect via phone or have email correspondences. Simply following someone is not successfully networking.
  1. Keep meetings short and sweet. Everyone is busy these days so as you’re networking, make the meetings and/or conversations short and sweet. A great meeting or networking opportunity is always having something get accomplished.
