Between that and the new Cynopsis video podcast being downloaded more than 8,000 times in March, the audio podcast more than 6,000 times during the same month, and things are hopping here! Who is the 50,000th subscriber? We’re waiting for the okay to announce his name, as well as the names of the first three current Cynopsis subscribers who picked April 11th as the big day. If you won, you’ll be getting an email about it this morning. What did they win? More on that tomorrow as well.

UPFRONT 2006: TBS/TNT
TBS has green lit two new original scripted series, both funny because that’s what they do … very funny:
- My Boys, a half-hour comedy series from Sony Pictures Television and Pariah, stars Jordana Spiro as PJ, a twenty-something tomboy and sportswriter who’s looking for romance in her world dominated by male friends. This show was created as a companion series to Sex and the City and will likely be paired that way in 4th qtr 2006.
- 10 Items of Less, a half-hour improvised and scripted comedy series from the creators of the mockumentary Memron, stars John Lehr as an unsuccessful businessman from New York City who moves home to take over the family business, a supermarket, after the death of his father. The show is produced by Sony Pictures Television and executive producers Robert Hickey, Nancy Hower and Lehr.
Also in development at TBS:
- My Embarrassing Life, about a 14-year old boy who deals with ridicule at school and his first real crush,
- Larry Miller Project, with stand-up comedian and actor Larry Miller offering a take as a suburban dad, husband and newspaper columnist with two kids.
TNT – where they know drama, has a few new drama series in production, including:
- Saved, premiering in June, stars Tom Everett Scott, as a paramedic whose life and job are at a breakneck pace, from Fox 21 and Imagine Television
- Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King, premiering in July, an anthology series of eight chilling tales, all featuring top name actors, produced by Ostar Enterprises.
- The Company from Sony Pictures Television and exec producer Ridley Scott, is a six episode original drama series set to premiere during the summer of 2007. Based on the novel by Robert Littell, the story follows the activities of the CIA during the Cold War.
- The Closer returns in June with season #2, starring Kyra Sedgwick as the brilliant, if not slightly odd, police negotiator.
In addition there are several drama series in development at TNT:
- Generations, crossing back and forth through the lives of three generations of the same family, living in the same house.
- The Norms, about a dysfunctional family in the “New” South.
- Middletown, set in Middle America about a married couple who are the principal and medical practitioner in the community.
- Untitled Hollander Project, follows a divorced couple who work both sides of the heart-transplant surgery trade.
- Untitled Greene/Levine Project, a New York sport doctor has his career ruined as he botches a surgery for a major athlete.
- Untitled Finkelstein/Clark Project, based on the experiences of former NYPD detective Bill Clark.
Finola Hughes will return to the ABC daytime soap, General Hospital on May 12, where she will reprise her role as Anna Devane, the character she originated twenty years ago. Yes, all is right with the world once again.
Fox Television has named Patrick Mullen as VP/GM of Chicago duopoly WFLD and WPWR. WFLD is a Fox affiliate, while WPWR will become an affiliate of the new MyNetwork TV network this fall.
