Good morning. It’s Wednesday, November 12, 2008, and this is your first early morning briefing. Tonight’s Premieres: Tonight’s Finale: ~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~ Nielsen and WPP formed an agreement to exchange specific assets. First, Nielsen is acquiring 50% of AGBNielsen Media Research from WPP, and in so doing, Nielsen will now have 100% ownership of this international TV audience media measurement company. WPP will then receive three properties from Nielsen: SRDS, provider of media rates and data; PERQ/HCI provider of media planning, trading and post campaign effectiveness insight for the healthcare industry; and lastly an 11% share in IBOPE PDM, IBOPE LA and IMI.com, part of the IBOPE Group specializing in media, market and opinion research based in Brazil. WPP will add its new assets to The Kantar Group, its information, insight and consultancy unit. These transfers are expected to be final by the end of this year. In another grim financial report, the Television Bureau of Advertising yesterday revised its TV station revenue calculation for 2009, projecting the total spot sales being down between -7% and -11%. In early September, the TVB predicted total sales would be down by -2% to -5%. In breaking out the numbers, TVB forecasts local spot down between -4% and -8%; national spot down between -11.5% and -15.5%. ABC will further play around with its primetime schedule by shuffling two of its series early next year, reports THR. ABC will try out Private Practice in the Thursday 10p slot following Grey’s Anatomy and frosh drama Life on Mars will move to the Wednesday 10p time period after Lost.
