Cynopsis

02/08/06

Good morning. It’s Wednesday, February 8, 2006, and this is your first early morning briefing.

Comedy Central‘s latest offering, Live at Gotham (working title) will premiere on the network’s broadband channel, Motherload, and then on-air.  The stand-up comedy series will debut on March 27, featuring new comics every night for six weeks.  The series will air on-line in six one-hour installments starting this summer.

The Documentary Channel a 24/7 network dedicated entirely to documentaries- launched on February 6 on the Dish Network as part of its America’s Top 60 tier.  Based out of Nashville, Doc is currently available in 12 million homes.  While docs are not interrupted with commercials, each is advertiser-sponsored.

Two new series are coming to The WB Network next month — Modern Man on March 17 at 930p, and Survival of the Richest on March 31 at 8p.

  • Survival of the Richest from RDF Media matches people from opposite ends of the financial spectrum and asks them to work together.  With host Hal Sparks, this is an elimination style reality series in six episodes.
  • Modern Man is a scripted 30m comedy from Jerry Bruckheimer and Warner Bros. TV about three childhood friends (Josh Braaten, Max Greenfield and Eric Lively) who are all now at different stages in their lives as it pertains to women. Enter Dr. Victoria Stangel (played by Jane Seymour) who is a consultant on matters of the heart.  Also starring is George Wendt and Marla Sokoloff.

Discovery
has ordered another season of Biker Build-Off from Original Prods for the fall 2006. The challenge includes 26 fabricators who compete in 13 rounds, building one-off motorcycles. Each builder is given two weeks to create a custom bike from the ground up.  At the end of the day, as cool as the bike may be, it must then take its builder 1,000 miles to a major bike event where attendees vote for their favorite.

ABC Family has scheduled the launch of a new 6-episode reality series called Looks of Love, about the staff of an LA hair salon.  The first episodes will air back to back this Saturday evening beginning at 11p.

Oxygen has given second season nods to two series – beauty competition Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance will return this summer, and after just five outings, Campus Ladies gets a 10 ep order for season #2, reports Variety

NBC Universal and Aeon Digital announced an agreement to make NBC Universal movies and TV events available to Aeon Digital customers via their DV-220 set top boxes. Aeon Digital’s network can be accessed for free by consumers who purchase the set top box, available as of this spring. He had trouble driving the extra wide vehicle and actually hit soldiers on multiple takes. What film was this?
