02.18.09

Good morning. It’s Wednesday, February 18, 2009, and this is your first early morning briefing.

Tonight’s Premieres:
Science Channel: Against the Elements at 8p
TV Land: High School Reunion at 10p
WE tv: Little Miss Perfect at 10p

Tennis Channel issued a statement yesterday saying it canceled its coverage of this weekend’s Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships in Dubai, U.A.E. The network is bowing out of coverage because a single female player was blocked from entering the country and thus the competition because of her nationality. This action was taken by the state’s authorities, and not by the tour or the tournament directors themselves. Tennis Channel further states in part, “preventing an otherwise qualified athlete from competing on the basis of anything other than merit has no place in tennis or any other sport.”

Some of the musicals include Bye, Bye Birdie, Funny Lady, Oliver!, Pal Joey and Pennies From Heaven among others.
