ABC Television Network and its Affiliate Board of Governors jointly announced the institution of the Inventory Exchange System (IES), a method of exchanging ad inventory and thereby creating shared revenue opportunities. Per ABC, IES will “create the opportunity to strategically offer ABC affiliates the option to purchase additional network ad inventory packages to sell locally at a profit.” Through IES, ABC allows for the ability to move ad inventory into the local markets when demand calls for it, for instance election time, end of the month car sales, etc. The first package under IES will run in late October, providing additional local inventory during the strong political period.
