Good morning. It’s Thursday, June 11, 2009, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.
Nickelodeon picks up two new animated comedy series, Planet Sheen and T.U.F.F. Puppy and gives the go ahead on three series pilots.
- The network has ordered Planet Sheen (26×30), a new spin-off of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, from Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty, Back at the Barnyard). Produced by O Entertainment, the series revolves around Sheen Guevera Estevez, the hyper kid from Jimmy Neutron, who borrows a rocket and crash lands on Zeenu where he must learn to deal with the planet’s bizarre customs and odd creatures as he tries to figure a way home.
- T.U.F.F. Puppy (13×30) comes from creator and exec producer Butch Hartman (Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom). Produced at Nickelodeon Animation Studios, the series follows Dudley Puppy a spirited but dimwitted dog that is thrust into the role of hero when he is recruited by the crime fighting organization, T.U.F.F. (Turbo Undercover Fighting Force), and is teamed with a feline partner Kitty Katswell.
- Newly greenlit pilots include: Robot & Monster: Best Friends Forever, a CG animated buddy comedy created by Dave Pressler (Los Luchadores!), Jeffrey Ventimilia (That ’70s Show), Joshua Sternin (That ’70s Show) and will be directed by Sam Levine; The Fleeps, a 2D animated story about two musicians who hitch a ride with an alien warlord and his mother, created by Tim McKeon (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends) and directed by Dave Wasson Making Friends); and You’re a Bad Man, Mr. Gum, a 2D animated adaptation based on the book series by Andy Stanton, who also created/writes and executive produces the pilot with Andy Bobrow (Malcolm in the Middle) exec production and writing.
