~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Late yesterday, FOX said this current season of House, starring Hugh Laurie as the unconventional medical genius Dr. Gregory House will be its last.  Produced by Universal Television, there is some speculation the show could be picked up by another broadcast or cable network though nothing is official.  The series’ present eighth season, airing Mondays at 8p, has averaged 9.8 million total viewers and a 3.9 rating among A18-49.

A proposed English-language cable news channel aiming at the US Hispanic market is in discussions between ABC and Univision.  The 24-hour cable news channel would likely launch prior to the fall election period.  Based in Miami, the cable news operation would utilize current reporters and producers from ABC and Univision and be owned 50-50 by both broadcasting companies.  Presently, the US Hispanic population totals 50 million people and between the 2000 and 2010 census the US Hispanic population increased by 43%.

Jersey Shore spinoff series The Pauly D Project premieres March 29 at 1030p on MTV.  The new series, produced by 495 Productions follows Pauly D as he navigates the music industry while trying to balance the trappings of fame and family time.  MTV is scheduling The Pauly D Project after Ashton Kutcher’s reality prank series Punk’d at 10p.  The Pauly D Project will also roll out internationally on MTV channels starting this June.

A new seven-part series on Investigation Discovery explores the seven deadly sins through scandalous crimes when Deadly Sins debuts March 3 at 9p.  Deadly Sins is hosted by attorney and criminal behavior expert Darren Kavinoky who offers professional insight and legal expertise in his analysis of each case.  The series leads into Investigation Discovery’s ongoing series Scorned: Love Kills airing at 10p and is part of the network’s Red Hot Saturdays programming lineup.  Deadly Sins is produced by Generate Entertainment in association with dick clark productions for Investigation Discovery.

Season six of the paranormal travel series Ghost Adventures returns to Travel Channel’s schedule on March 9 at 9p.  Viewers trek with investigators Zak Bagans and Nick Groff and equipment technician Aaron Goodwin as the trio explores the most haunted locales in America.  The new season has seven one-hour episodes produced by MY Tupelo Entertainment for Travel Channel.

Drama series Being Human received a third season renewal by Syfy with 13 episodes.  So far this current second season, Being Human has increased its A18-49 viewers by +27%; +35% among A25-54; and +15% with total viewers.  The series is produced by Muse Entertainment in association with Zodiak USA.

Moving to a new night and time on Mondays at 9p, The Haney Project debuts its fourth season on Golf Channel February 27 airing just before Feherty in a new season at 10p.  In the new eight-episode season of The Haney Project, four celebrities including Adam Levine, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mario Batali and Angie Everhart will work at improving their game with world renowned golf instructor Hank Haney.  The season will culminate in a golf showdown in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where the four celebrities will compete to win $100,000 for the charity of their choice.  The Haney Project is produced by Golf Channel in conjunction with The WorkShop, LLC.

REELZCHANNEL ordered 26 new episodes of its weekly series Hollywood Uncensored with Sam Rubin.  The new order takes the episode count over the 100th episode mark.   In the weekly series, longtime entertainment reporter Sam Rubin hosts an unvarnished look at the week in show business as he dishes on everything Hollywood along with four celebrity guests.  The show tapes each week in Los Angeles and original episodes air on Sundays at 1030p with an encore airing at 1130p.

In late March, BBC America brings back a new season of Whitechapel as part of the network’s Dramaville programming heading beginning March 28 at 10p.  The new season follows three investigators played by Rupert Penry-Jones, Phil Davis and Steve Pemberton as they tackle crimes in London’s East End.  Whitechapel is produced by Carnival Films for ITV.

Football players weren’t the only ones taking to the gridiron last Sunday as a cadre of cute puppies frolicked and made touchdowns in Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl VIII. The network reports 8.7 million unique total viewers tuned in across the 12-hour marathon.  For 3-5p premiere of Puppy Bowl, Animal Planet delivered an average of 1.6 million total viewers.

Mandy Moore will headline a new single-camera comedy pilot ordered by ABC.  The untitled project is about newlyweds Annie (Moore) and Ben who open a hip new restaurant in Annie’s hometown that brings her closer to her needy and high maintenance family.  Shawn Levy is on board as EP and to direct the pilot.  Bob Fisher and Stacy Traub are writers.

ABC further ordered the drama series Mistresses aiming for a summer 2013 premiere.  KJ Steinberg wrote the drama described as a thriller about four women with scandalous romantic lives caught in complex webs of secrecy and betrayal that they created.  Bob Sertner is attached as EP.

Josephson Entertainment is teaming with Nashville veterans Gary Bridges and Kevin Wayne to create a reality show called American Supergroup.  The show will begin nationwide auditions and online submissions to find 48 candidates for six band positions.  Following the first eliminations, the remaining contestants will live together, rehearse together and compete for a spot in the music group.  After the American Supergroup is assembled, the band will be managed by Glen Parrish of Azoff, Geary, Paul, Smith Management.  Bridges and Wayne will serve as show producers in addition to film and music industry veteran Doug Falconer.

Kyle Bornheimer is joining the cast of ABC’s comedy pilot White Man Van. The single-camera project is from Bobby Bowman and is based on a British format.
