The XFL is back, with WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon announcing plans to bring back the defunct football league with plans to launch in 2020 with eight teams and 40-man active rosters playing across a 10-week regular season schedule. In its second go-around, the league will feature “a fan-centric, innovative experience, including shorter, fast-paced games and a family-friendly environment, complemented by cross-platform viewing options and real-time fan engagement,” according to the announcement. McMahon is personally funding this venture through Alpha Entertainment with all teams owned by the league, and noted that the league will not hire players with arrest records.
“As we reimagine the game, we reimagine the way we distribute the game,” McMahon said of the media plans for the league. “It’s going to be a combination of any number of forms of presentation.”
