HBO opens season two of IN TREATMENT April 5 at 9p, with new episodes airing on Sunday and Monday nights. Gabriel Byrne returns as Dr. Paul Weston, now newly divorced and operating his therapy practice out of his new Brooklyn brownstone. Dianne Wiest also is back as Dr. Gina Toll, Paul’s therapist. New cast members include Hope Davis, Russell Hornsby, John Mahoney, Alison Pill, Sherri Saum and Aaron Shaw while Glynn Turman will also make a guest appearance this season. To clarify the schedule, two new 30m episodes of IN TREATMENT air consecutively on Sundays at 9p and three new episodes air back-to-back on Mondays starting at 9p. The Emmy Award-winning drama series is produced by HBO Entertainment. Animal Planet announced a second hoof-pounding season of its docu-drama series Jockeys, which quickly follows the freshman season finale on March 13. Season two, with seven 60m episodes, premieres late this summer and will take viewers into the lives of seven jockeys working within the high-stakes world of horse racing. This season features two new jockeys: Garrett Gomez and Corey Nakatani. The series is produced by Go Go Luckey. VH1 is bringing back one of its iconic signature series Behind the Music, ordering 10 new episodes, reports THR. The series began in 1997 and has been off the air since 2002, with just a handful of episodes running each year through 2006. According to network focus groups, viewers still associate the documentary series with the network’s brand. VH1 will update the format for 2009 yet will keep much of it the same including having Jim Forbes return as the show’s narrator. To date, Lil Wayne and Scott Weiland will participate in the new version and VH1 is close to finalizing agreements with many other artists. National Geographic Channel renewed Dog Whisperer for a sixth season with 30 new episodes, per THR. The series, featuring dog wizard Cesar Millan will debut later this year. UPFRONT 2009: FUEL TV Action sports network, FUEL TV will be in New York City next Tuesday through Thursday for its 3-day Upfront event, doing a live taping of its daily interview and variety show The Daily Habit in front of clients, advertising agencies and trade and consumer media outlets. CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Google and Sony are teaming up to give Amazon a run for its money in the E-reader market. Google is providing Sony’s e-book Reader, which actually predates the Kindle, access to some 500,000 public domain book titles. (Click on the “unearth a classic” link on Sony’s ebook store homepage for a look at what’s available – a download of the eBook Library client is needed.) In return, Google gets to promote its Google Book Search tool. Google has invested millions to scan public domain books from university and research libraries, encoding them in the open source ePub format to enable devices like the Reader to view them. Full edition: CYN DIGITAL. CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Up, the new Disney/Pixar animated comedy feature film, will premiere in Digital 3D as the Opening Ceremony film at the 62nd Festival de Cannes on Wednesday, May 13, 2009.
