| Disney and YouTube TV agreed on a carriage deal on Friday, 15 days into a blackout of Disney channels on the service. The agreement includes carriage of ABC and ESPN, along with other networks, and the inclusion of the Unlimited tier of ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer streaming at no extra charge for YouTube TV subscribers. The Disney+/Hulu bundle will also be made available in select YouTube offerings. “This new agreement reflects our continued commitment to delivering exceptional entertainment and evolving with how audiences choose to watch,’’ said Disney Entertainment Co-Chairmen Alan Bergman and Dana Walden and ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro. “It recognizes the tremendous value of Disney’s programming and provides YouTube TV subscribers with more flexibility and choice.”
Preliminary bids for Warner Bros. Discovery are due November 20, reports Deadline. In addition to Paramount, which has already made three offers, Comcast and Netflix are expected to make moves. Suitors have signed NDAs enabling them to sift through WBD’s financials and prepare offers.
The possibility of Netflix acquiring WBD does not sit well with Rep. Darrell Issa. The Republican from California warned Trump administration officials that Netflix‘s potential acquisition of WBD’s HBO Max and its entertainment studios raises antitrust concerns that could result in harm to consumers. “With more than 300 million global subscribers and a vast content library, Netflix currently wields unequaled market power,” wrote Issa. “Adding both HBO Max’s subscribers and Warner Bros.’ premier content rights would further enhance this position, reportedly pushing the combined entity above a 30 percent share of the streaming market: a threshold traditionally viewed as presumptively problematic under antitrust law.” |
The SAG Awards have been renamed The Actor Awards Presented by SAG-AFTRA. “Since the beginning, our statue has been called ‘The Actor’ and we’re a show that’s entirely about actors, so this new name is a perfect next step in the show’s evolution,” said Jon Brockett, The Actor Awards showrunner and executive producer. “The Actor Awards presented by SAG-AFTRA gives viewers in 190-plus countries an immediate understanding of who we are and what we’re about.”
Straight from BravoCon: Bravo has greenlit “Still Flipping Out” (w/t), following former “Flipping Out” star Jeff Lewis as his show on Radio Andy and design empire converge. “Jeff Lewis has always been authentically himself, and that’s exactly why fans have followed him across different platforms and mediums,” said Rachel Smith, EVP of Unscripted Content, Lifestyle and Documentaries, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “His humor and knack for beautiful chaos have only grown since ‘Flipping Out.’ Bringing him back to Bravo feels less like a return and more like picking up right where we left off.” The series is produced by 32 Flavors Entertainment.
Bravo is setting sail again with “Below Deck” for a 13th season, and “Below Deck Mediterranean” for an 11th. Capt. Sandy Yawn and Chief Stew Aesha Scott will return for the upcoming season of “Below Deck Mediterranean” taking place in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The next installment of “Below Deck” will film in Thailand. Both series are set to air next year.
“Las Culturistas Culture Awards,” hosted by comedians Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, will return to Bravo in 2026. “We are beside ourselves with joy, excitement and more that The Culture Awards will be back on Bravo and Peacock in 2026!” said Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. “This is officially a front runner in the category of Best Decision Ever Made, though it faces stiff competition from ‘Meryl Streep decides to try acting’ and ‘dumping that loser!!!’ We’ll see you soon!”.
It looks like Vicki Gunvalson is returning to “The Real Housewives of Orange County” as a full-time housewife for season 20. Onstage during BravoCon, Gunvalson, a full-time housewife for the reality show’s first 13 seasons, accepted Andy Cohen’s invitation to return.
What do 3Q25 earnings bode for the media industry? “Between comparisons to the Summer Olympics and the US presidential race last year, 2025 was always going to feel like a letdown, especially during Q3,” says AdExchanger’s Victoria McNally. “But it’s still surprising to see just how much margins have dropped. It seems like double digits across the board.” For insights on why linear shouldn’t be written off yet – and how AVOD is “little but fierce” – go here. |

Nielsen notes the week was heavy with live sports – the MLB playoffs, NFL and college football, Week 2 of NHL’s regular season, Formula 1’s United States Grand Prix— which likely had an impact on streaming usage. Netflix’s “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” maintained the #1 overall position for a third consecutive week with 979 million minutes, followed by British historical drama “Poldark.” |
