“Gold Rush”: From Green Beret to Gold Miner

Discovery Channel’s “Gold Rush” miner and team leader Fred Lewis is a military veteran whose entire crew is comprised of vets – which is no coincidence. He explains the connection to Cynopsis.

How does your training as a Green Beret help with your work as a gold miner?

Training to become a Green Beret taught me my potential in life and that nothing is impossible if you put your mind into something.

Why have you recruited veterans for your mining crew?

I believe that the military has its own set s values, it’ own culture and a work ethic unlike any work sector so recruiting from this pool gives me higher quality individuals, plus for me working with veterans is like working with family.

How did you decide on a career in mining?

Gold mining choose me. Once I saw the challenge, hard work and dedication that goes into it and the potential for massive rewards I knew I found my next path in life!
