A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM USA NETWORK
LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT
Has a New Home on USA Network! New Original Episodes Cynopsis
Good Morning. It’s Thursday, October 4, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing. NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker called for tougher penalties against media pirates in an address to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce yesterday claiming, “Today we are losing the battle.” He cited a new study from the pro-industry Institute for Policy Innovation as evidence, which estimates nearly $60 million and 375,000 jobs are lost annually because of copyright infringement. Mr. Zucker would like to see IP enforcement departments created by Congress to police the internet, advertisers stop providing financial support to illegal sites and web 2.0 companies provide better filtering technologies. Tonight’s Premieres: ~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~
The History Channel renewed The Universe which return in fourth quarter with 13 new episodes, and Cities of the Underworld which returns in first quarter 2008 also with 13 new episodes. Both series have broadband companion short-form series at History.com which offer viewers more information: the new Backyard Astronomer will enhance The Universe and The Naked Underground will be back to extend Cities of the Underworld. Style Network heats up the kitchen with a new series Hot Guys Who Cook premiering November 21 at 930p. Each 30m episode will have three guys from different professions cook in their own kitchens, sharing the recipes to their favorite dishes. Viewers will log on to mystyle.com and vote for who they think is the best “hot dish” which will be revealed after each episode. The series is produced by Super Delicious. RCN subscribers have a new HD channel – TBS HD launched yesterday and in time to carry the American and National League division playoffs in hi def. ~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~
ABC has given a put pilot with penalty (say that 3 times fast!) to an untitled drama project from JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV. According to Variety, the story revolves around a psychologist who has a show on local cable access. The script will be written by Jill Soloway, writer on Grey’s Anatomy. HBO has renewed Love Me for a second season, and has ordered up two drama projects, per Hollywood Reporter:
