Debmar-Mercury acquired global distribution rights to Hasbro, Inc.’s Trivial Pursuit and will partner with Hasbro to deliver a first run half-hour stripped TV show version of the game called Trivial Pursuit: America Plays. The show, which will be produced by Wheeler-Sussman Productions with a user-generated content feature, will be available to U.S. stations in fall 2008. In addition, format rights will be available to international countries. CBS Television Distribution is collaborating with Dr. Phil McGraw and Jay McGraw to launch The Doctors (wt), a new first-run, one-hour program into syndication for fall 2008. The show will be a “dream team” of doctors from five different disciplines that will focus on key medical issues and topics in the news. So far the show, produced by Stage 29 Productions, has cleared in 50% of U.S. households on station groups such as CBS Television Stations, Gannett Broadcasting, Cox Television, Scripps Howard Broadcasting, Belo, Post-Newsweek Stations and LIN Television. Program Change for ABC: Flip flop 20/20 and Men in Trees, which puts 20/20 back to its 10p position, and Men in Trees in the kick off position at 8p. That change is effective on November 2. Additionally, as of November 26 when Dancing with the Stars has its finale, Samantha Who? will move to the 9p time period and be followed by Notes from the Underbelly. And October Road returns on November 22 at 10p, and then after its premiere, move to Mondays at 10 starting November 26. Confused? The schedule in excel spreadsheet downloadable form is available on our website at www.cynopsis.com right there on the home page. CMT introduces a new makeover series, Trick My Trucker from Varuna Films, Inc., producers of the similarly titled Trick My Truck. In the new series, the truckers themselves get makeovers, working with trainers to get into shape and learning about how to eat healthy on the road. The six-episode half-hour series is hosted by Bob Guiney, from ABC’s The Bachelor and will debut November 10 at 9p. NBC Universal’s Green Is Universal initiative is scheduled for November 4-10 featuring more than 150 hours of environmentally-themed shows and content across the company’s multiple platforms. The company is also in the process of greening up its offices worldwide and the NBC Universal Foundation will present funds to three environmentally-focused organizations. Sundance Channel will be a part of NBCU’s green week and will rerun its series It’s Not Easy Being Green and Big Ideas for a Small Planet starting 8p each night in addition to airing The Green on November 6 at 9p and public service announcements called The More You Know About Green. SCI FI Channel and World Wrestling Entertainment will continue their collaboration of ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) on the network through 2008. SCI FI has also renewed its original series Stargate Atlantis produced by MGM Television. Production will begin for the 20-episode fifth season early next year. HGTV will continue to mix home improvement with real estate as the network has ordered additional episodes of House Hunters, Hidden Potential and My First Place. The Nielsen Company and Google have formed a multi-year strategic alliance. The first outcome of this new relationship will be demographic data provided by Nielsen to Google TV Ads, the online platform for buying, selling, measuring and delivering television ads. Google will now be able to provide its advertisers a more complete look of the demographic composition of the audience. Now if you weren’t at the Cynopsis Foundation dinner on Tuesday, and you’ve heard about the Hunting Cynopsis video produced by Cynopsis video producer/editor John Cox, and was a huge HUGE hit that night, you can check it out at www.cynopsis.com and click on the Programmer’s Showcase (right side of the home page).
